Hello fellow Music Enthusiasts...

Here is the remaining part of our last week's tutorial... I'm sorry that i couldn't post it on time ...

Relax and Peruse...

MAJOR SCALES: This is diatonic scale of seven notes. The intervals between the Successive notes after the first are Tone (T) Tone (T) Semitone (S) Tone (T)Tone (T) Tone (T) Semitone (S) or Whole step (W) Whole step (W) Half step (H) Whole step (W) Whole step (W) Whole step (W) Half step (H)...

The notes that make up the C major scale are C D E-F G A B-C... Follow the pattern to get the major on all other keys.

NATURAL MINOR SCALE... This is a seven notes scale and a diatonic scale. The Intervals between the Successive notes after the first are Tone (T) Semitone (S) Tone (T) Tone (T) Semitone (S) Tone (T) Tone (T)
The natural minor scale of a particular key is the 6th mode (Aeolian) of the Major Scale of another key, 3 semitones above the previous key .
E.g The natural minor scale of A is A B C D E-F G A... then this same Scale is the Aeolian mode of C major scale C (1) D(2) E(3) F(4) G(5) A(6) B(7).

HARMONIC MINOR SCALE: This is a seven notes scale gotten by raising the 7th note of the natural minor scale,by a Semitone,to create a Semitone between the 7th note and the 1st...
The intervals between the Successive notes after the first are Tone, Semitone, Tone, Tone, Semitone,Tone, Sesquitone (Minor 3rd), Semitone.

MAJOR PENTATONIC SCALE: This is five-note scale made up of the 1st 2nd 3rd, 5th and 6th notes of the Major Scale.

MINOR PENTATONIC SCALE: This is a five note scale made up of the 1st, 3rd,4th, 5th and 7th notes of the Natural Minor Scale.

BLUES SCALE: This is a hexatonic scale which is made up of the notes 1st 2nd b3rd 3rd 5th 6th notes. Just like as it is in the case of Natural major scale and Natural Minor Scale, the blues minor scale is the 6th mode of the blues major scale...

MODE...Let me use the major scale to illustrate this... In C major scale, we have the notes C D E F G A B C, of which C is the root... If we decide to re-arrange these notes and in a way that each of the notes becomes the root of the scale,we are creating a MODE...

Rearranging the notes of C major scale, we
would have
C(Root)_ C D E-F G A B-C (IONIAN MODE)(MAJOR SCALE)
D(Root) _D E-F G A B-C D (DORIAN MODE)
E(ROOT) _E-F G A B-C D E (PHRYGIAN MODE)
F(ROOT)_ F G A B-C D E-F (LYDIAN MODE)
G(ROOT)_ G A B-C D E-F G (MIXOLYDIAN) MODE)
A(ROOT) _A B-C D E-F G A (AEOLIAN MODE) (NATURAL MINOR SCALE)
B(ROOT) _B-C D E-F G A B ( LOCRIAN)...
(This illustration above shows the Mode of the C major scale and the names of each of the mode is applicable to every to just Major scales. You can as well re-orient the notes of other scales like the Natural Minor Scale..

Good morning fellow Music Enthusiasts... This week we are going to be talking about scale...

What is a Scale? : A scale can be defined as an arrangement of a group of notes in ascending or descending order of pitch.

When we say Ascending order,we mean that we start from the lowest pitch to the highest pitch and when we say Descending order,we mean that we start with the highest note and then progress to the lowest note.

You can think of a scale as a ladder or stair. The more you climb;the more you go higher in pitch.

CLASSIFICATION OF SCALES BASED ON QUANTITY OF NOTES

MONOTONIC SCALE :A Scale of one note
DITONIC SCALE: A Scale of two notes

TRITONIC SCALES - :A Scale of three notes.
TETRATONIC SCALE- : A scale of four notes
PENTATONIC SCALE: A scale of five notes.
HEXATONIC SCALE- A Scale of Six notes.
HEPTATONIC SCALE- A scale of Seven Notes.
OCTATONIC SCALES: A scale of Eight notes

CLASSIFICATION OF SCALES BASED ON QUALITY OR TONALITY..

MAJOR SCALE: For HEPTATONIC type of major scales, the Interval between the 1st note and the 3rd note is a Major third.

MINOR SCALE: For HEPTATONIC type of minor scale, the interval between the 1st and 3rd notes is a minor third.

Most of the chords used today evolved from the western world and are called WESTERN SCALES...
Under the Western scales ,we have :
The MAJOR SCALE, NATURAL MINOR SCALE,MELODIC MINOR SCALE, HARMONIC MINOR SCALE, PENTATONIC SCALES, BLUES SCALES, DOMINANT SCALE, DIMINISHED SCALE ETC..

THE DEGREES OF A SCALES
When talking about the degrees of a scale, it refers to the position of a particular note in a given scale... A degree of a Scale can be identified in several ways...
1. Ordinal Numbers (like 1st 2nd 3rd and so on)
2. Nashville Number System (NNS) ( like 1,2,3 ...)

3.Roman Numerals (like i,ii,iii,iv ....)

4. Solfa Notation (Solfege) (like Do Re Mi...)

5. The English name given to them based on their functions
6. Alphabets

To be Contd.

There are indefinite pronouns that are Plural . Such indefinite pronouns takes plural verbs as the verbs close to them in a sentence...

Example of such are :
BOTH- Both are good..
MANY - Many are Called but Few are Chosen.
FEWER - About sixty percent of Nigerian men were smoking in the last 5 years but FEWER are smoking these days (πŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ€”πŸ€” For Real? Anyway we just used that as an example)
MANY - Many have arrived at the wedding venue.
OTHERS - Others have tried but failed...( Even at that,we will try and still succeed πŸ‘Œ)
SEVERAL- They all started arguing and several left the meeting..
THEY - They say that Antibiotics are good for treating bacterial infections.

Well,he will go free because he couldn't mention anybody's name.. Let him say that "he , Paschal and Covenant was called but only him was chosen... OMG😑 Does he think it's easy to apply for a job,go for interview and fail😑? He will have to sleep in that office oh..if not thunder will fire someone πŸ™„πŸ™„ ( I said someone... I didn't mention anybody's name ohπŸ™Œ)πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

HOW TO FORM A MAJOR TRIAD

Good morning my fellow Music Students...
Let me not assume that we all know what a TRIAD is...A triad is a Chord of three notes.

A major Triad is a Major Chord of three notes...

A lot of us know how to play C major Triad ,F Major Triad,G Major triad etc because they were shown...

The essence of this short tutorial is to help you DO IT YOURSELF.

Now Let's go...

To form a major Triad of any key...
We have a formula 4-3 (4 means that we are to count 4 semitones from the Tonic to get the expected next note while 3 mean that we are to count 3 semitones from the last note we got to the next note)

This is how it works...
Lets make F our Tonic
,F -1 -2 -3 -4(A) -1 -2- 3(C) = F A C

If we pick G,it would be,
G-1-2-3-4(B) -1-2-3(D)= G A C

Pick any key and try it ,You will be able to play All the major Triad...

Hey! Stop peeping inside the photo,do it yourself πŸ™„

Music theory shows us the way, let's embrace it lest we walk in darkness.
Yeah! That's how we roll...
