Trends Digital Agencies Need to Prepare for in 2018
As social media becomes one of our main modes of communication, consumers are demanding that brand marketing becomes more and more personal.
Here’s a look at what else lies ahead in the world of digital marketing in 2018, and how digital agencies can prepare for it.

1. Consumers are reacting more to unfiltered, authentic content:

Of course, the aesthetic of a sleek, professional photo hasn't lost its appeal, however generic stock images don’t help brands showcase authenticity, and as a result, consumers are seeking more authentic and real moments with brands on platforms - particularly through newer options like Instagram Stories and Snapchat.

Consumers are looking for honest insights about how brands operate, and they want to connect on a personal level to the brands they follow. Brands that share unfiltered photos and videos, which haven’t undergone heavy editing, can expect to receive more likes, shares, and clicks on their content.

2. Storytelling is more important than ever:
As the competition for attention online gets fiercer, many agencies are turning to professional storytellers, and even journalists to write their key material.

Agencies can benefit greatly from hiring writers with backgrounds in reporting and storytelling. Journalists can not only help brands create a personality and build trust in their stories, but they can also help brands solidify their authority with well-researched content. The demand for high-quality and engaging content is growing yearly, and is expected to continue in 2018.

From the beautiful lady at the front desk to the cooks working hard in the kitchens to create mouth watering dishes, everyone at Hospitality Institute made us feel welcomed. Our interactions with the staff were cheerful and playful, they shared anecdotes about interesting times spent in the office. There were a few cases of pulling all-nighters in preparation for a program.

They took us round their facility and we had a photo shoot of their facility and staff. After the shoot we were surprised with some of the mouth watering dishes from the kitchen.

Looking at the logo you see someone (in yellow) serving while
the other (deep green) is receiving. The situation could be reversed. This act denotes commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork. The Hospitality Institute qualities of commitment, teamwork and excellence are the inspiration behind this logo.

We helped coordinate a product activation launch for Freetel phones made by Japan on the 9th of October 2017. The phones featured in the activation were The Ice 2, Ice 2+, Ice 3 and Priori 4. The activation took place at three stores in Ikeja; Teleworld, Pointek and Okayphones. We had a lively crowd and a particular schoolboy who danced even better than our dancers.

Is Your Brand Saying The Right Thing?

Do customers leave your website or social media pages more confused than they came in? Are your leads not turning into actual sales? If this is the case, then it is probably time to pay attention to what your brand is saying. If your social media pages are at odds with your core brand message, the purpose for going social – connecting and communicating – has been diverted.

1. Clarify your brand message: Sometimes when your brand message is not clear it becomes difficult to line up your marketing efforts with the heart of your brand. Define or redefine your brand message, purpose and mission. Clearly outline them and make them ever-present in the mind of your team.

2. Know your audience: Every brand must have a target audience or ideal consumers. If you are still unsure of your audience ask yourself: What group of people does my product/service cater to? Knowing your target audience will help you in running ads, creating messages and content specifically for your market.

3. Know the places to be: Now that you’ve figured out your audience, find out where they are. What sites do they frequently visit? What sites do they comment on? If you know these “hangout spots” and visit them, you can find out what your audience is interested in and integrate this information into your marketing strategy.

When you have this information and use it for your (digital) marketing purposes, the result will be brand integrity. Your brand message will be aligned with whatever you say or do online and offline.

You must have heard or seen the phrase “content is king”. Now, that may well be a marketing buzzword but it’s a statement that has never been more relevant. In a world where consumers are more savvy, more demanding, and more empowered than ever, brands and businesses need to up their content marketing game to engage, inspire and convert.

With digital technologies constantly evolving, there have never been more opportunities for brands and businesses to branch out to new prospects with innovative and inspirational niche content. Here are some content marketing trends you should use to your advantage this year, and beyond.

1. Mobile content: By 2020, smartphones will make up 50 per cent of all global devices. By 2018, more than 75 per cent of Facebook users will access the platform from a mobile device. Delivering quality mobile optimized content to your customers will ensure long term success this year and in the more distant future.

2. Influencer marketing: 84 per cent of digital consumers say that they trust online reviews just as much as personal recommendations. By getting an influential person, local personality or celebrity to back your brand you stand a greater chance of connecting with today’s millennial consumers, forging connections, building trust and as a result increasing conversions.

Content is indeed king and if you’d like to enjoy the kind of commercial success you deserve then tell your brand story the right way by prioritize content marketing.
