Important facts to avoid problems before and after you NIN enrollment.
The National Identification Number (NIN) is a set of numbers assigned to an individual upon successful enrolment. Enrolment consists of the recording of an individual’s demographic data and capture of the ten (10) fingerprints, head-to-shoulder facial picture and digital signature, which are all used to cross-check existing data in the National Identity Database to confirm that there is no previous entry of the same data.
It is important to note the National Identification Number (NIN) is a unique number that can not be re-issued to another person even after death. The unique identification number is attached to you and it uniquely identify you for life. Hence it is important that you avoid any form mistake during the process of registration. Errors during the process of registration is difficult or might be impossible to correct in some cases. To avoid troubles in future please take note of the following:
i. Ensure that the information provided is the same as the once one on your previous documents particularly voter’s card or BVN other wise you might have challenges using the document in later times.
ii. If you have BVN, it is better you provide it during the process of registration. It makes the process easier and reduces the chances of making errors during the process of registration.
iii. Errors can also be averted when you provide a backing document such as voter’s card, international passport, National ID card etc.
iv. Ensure you verify the data inputted by the enrollment agent before final submission.
v. Avoid double enrollment, if you have enrolled once find you transaction ID and provide it the NIN enrollment center so that they can provide you with you NIN.
vi. It is mandatory for every citizen and legal resident from the age of 16years to enroll for the National Identification Number (NIN).
vii. Minors are not issued with the National Identity cards until they attain the age of 16.
