Data Privacy Week continues with the question around Visibility.

If you don’t know where sensitive data lives, does protecting it not become guesswork?

Yes, you want to abide by the mandatory rules, be compliant, but what if you could outlast, outperform, and out-earn Trust?

True “Digital Trust” isn’t about ticking the boxes. It’s about proven security, reliability, and resilience, even when no one is watching, a combination Cybervergent prides in helping organizations achieve.

So the real question isn’t whether you’re Compliant… It is whether you’re truly Trusted.

Did you know our CEO, Ade Omotosho, didn’t start his career in cybersecurity?

He started in systems engineering, where he learned to break problems down to first principles; understanding how things work and spotting failure points before they appear.

Today, he applies that same foundational mindset to governance, privacy, risk, and compliance. Because when the structure is right, the business can scale.

🧠 Your turn: How has your early career shaped who you are today? What lessons still guide you?

“There are wins you build, and wins that remind you who you are.”

Last weekend at the Great Place to Work awards taught us this lesson.

When we walked into the ceremony as nominees across five categories, we took it as a sign that our people-first approach was being noticed.

By the time the night ended, Cybervergent walked away with three wins: the 2nd place overall for Best Workplaces in Nigeria (Small Category), the Victor Ligbago Award for Best Workplace for Millennials (Small Category), and Best in Promoting a Culture of Innovation By All (Small Category).

These trophies reaffirmed our core identity, and they reflected our intentional practices to achieve innovative solutions, including consistent feedback loops, intentional mentorship, and the small rituals that make team come alive. And that’s why our users trust Cybervergent to protect their data and digital ecosystems.

This moment belongs entirely to our people. We are thankful to every Cybervergent team member who shows up daily with curiosity, passion and a commitment to excellence everyday. We are also grateful to the GPTW team for providing this platform and honoring our culture.

We will enjoy this well-deserved victory as a team, even as we remain focused on the ambitious goals ahead.

Face ID eases payments by enabling one-tap transactions, which in turn provides a lot of convenience for both businesses and customers. The global biometric payments market, already valued in the tens of billions and expanding rapidly, is driving higher transaction success rates as more organizations and consumers embrace biometrics and passkeys.

However, more convenience can lead to more risks. Recently, security researchers uncovered iOS malware designed to harvest facial-recognition data. NIST recently highlighted that morphing and deepfake techniques can enable identity fraud, and advised organizations to use biometric checks as part of a layered defense instead rather than using it as the only control to protect user data.

As the Cybersecurity Awareness Month encourages us all to “Stay Safe Online”, NIST’s guidelines couldn’t be any more relevant.

So what should product and security leaders do? We recommend 3 practical insights:
1. Treat Face ID as an Addon Factor: Combine facial recognition with another authentication factor for robust, multi-factor verification.
2. Protect biometric data and log every authentication event for forensics.
3. Monitor for AI-driven spoofing indicators and map biometric events into your risk dashboards so incidents trigger automated response workflows.

Our AI-native platform, Cybervergent can automatically turn biometric events into actionable security intelligence integrated into your posture views, KRIs and compliance reports to enable you to use Face ID confidently in your products and applications without letting it become a vulnerability. If you want a guide explaining how you can add biometric signals into your incident and compliance flows, book a 10-minute demo with us today

AI can serve as both a powerful ally and a formidable enemy. The question remains: is it a threat or a tool?

From our experience dealing with organizations across Africa, the reality is that AI can be both. Cyber attackers are increasingly using AI to scale phishing attacks, create convincing social engineering schemes, and identify vulnerabilities faster than ever. Some nation-states and criminal actors are already using AI to sharpen their surveillance efforts.

At the same time, many organisations are improving their defensive strategies using AI. Many security teams and enterprises report growing AI use for detection and response, but most lack mature governance for safe implementation. In fact, two-thirds of companies believe AI will impact cybersecurity within the next year, yet only about 37% have established formal processes for its safe use.

As the Cybersecurity Awareness Month encourages us to Stay Safe Online, it’s important for leaders to start asking necessary questions, such as:

1. Are we using AI to reduce risk (not just add capability)?
2. Do we have controls for “shadow AI” and a way to detect AI-powered attack signals?

Our TrustPulse platform uses A.I for context-aware governance, risk prevention, detection, remediation, comprehensive compliance and data security posture management that helps organizations run their business securely. Reach out to us for a demo at [email protected] and discover how we can help you use AI to seamlessly achieve digital trust.
