Yahoo + (Money Rituals)

The craze for wealth especially amongst young people is fueling a bloody trend; money rituals. This is disguised as 419 or yahoo yahoo, but its a lie, its blood money.

Yahoo + simply shows the failure of government, parents and society. A society that does not value and reward real work is doomed. Some friends and Parents have glorified and encouraged yahoo yahoo or money rituals forgetting the viper they fed yesterday will turnaround and bite them tomorrow when it needs blood.

Worst still, all that is acquired with this blood money turns out to varnish really fast. Ask Ezeogo who lived in Ajao estate that year.

BokoHaram Vs Niger Delta Militants
===========================
A senior military officer once said members of the Boko Haram sect who repents should be granted amnesty and encouraged to join the armed forces. This idealogy is the beginning of dooms day if unchecked. Persons who have perpetuated acts of violence should be made to face the consequences of their actions as stated in the constitution.

Niger Delta Militants..
The argument is if the militants are granted amnesty so should the deadly sect. This line of reasoning is worrisome and baseless. Niger delta militants were advocating for inclusion in the proceeds of oil and against environmental pollution, what are the agitations of the BokoHaram sect?

If we currently have "repentant BokoHaram members" in our armed forces, my question is what becomes of our national security should they sympathize and take sides with their sect again while in the military?

Lets learn from AFGHANISTAN.

Estimated Billing; Which Way Out?

Estimated billing is simply a set up to extort. How difficult is it to meter customers instead of making them pay for services not enjoyed? At some point the cost of my annual estimated electricity bills was catching up with my rent. How can a residential apartment consume 28k monthly? what is the rationale?

To make matters worse small businesses are not immune to this extortionist tendencies of the power companies. Many of them have buckled not as a result of bad managerial skills or a lack of adequate capital but a hostile environment in which they operate. As a business owner what is keeping you down?

Repentant BokoHaram (1).
=====================

"My mother was r***d, sister taken away and father maimed and confined to a make-shift wheelchair in a Boko Haram raid back in 2019. I still see one of the 9-man gang in the village with a motorcycle. His name is Bashir and he is having his Nikkah next week" says Mustafa Seidu.

Our societies may never be the same again. The pain and loss people suffered in the hands of Bokoharam is leading many into depression. Worst still, the perpetrators are constantly granted amnesty, they are forgiven for their heinous crimes against humanity and allowed to live and roam amongst us like nothing happened. Do you expect Saidu to just watch Bashir live his best life after destroying his without a real attempt at rehabilitating, counseling and serving justice to Seidu and other victims of Boko Haram?

If the society and government fail to give victims of BokoHaram attacks Justice, they will seek it themselves. Either today or tomorrow through reprisals against the state or against the sect. Either way the circle of violence and blood letting continues. As for members of the repentant sect in the Army, that is a story for tomorrow.

Afghanistan: The Quick Fall of Kabul...
===================
The entire world woke to the news of a fallen Kabul in the hands of the Talibans. 20years of sacrifice to keep the world safe wasted in one swoop. 75,000 Taliban fighters I understand defeated 300,000 Afghan Soldiers. But intelligence report reveals something unusual. A huge proportion of Afghan forces are Taliban sympathizers which explains the quick fall of Kabul.

An Unsafe World...
The American people and its allies are understandably upset and the world certainly feels more unsafe to me. If the war on terror is a religious or a political one remains unclear . But the ideologies that fuel extremism and blood shed is one that should worry anyone irrespective of religion.

It also appears some foreign policies by the west may have even been recipes for chaos. Look at Iraq, Libya and Syria, western interventions simply complicated everything.

I will be 39 soon, yet this war rages on.

Broken Public Schools
======================
I attended public schools from 80's to early 2000's. It served it purpose until we started experiencing countless number of strikes especially in the Babangida regime. Today's economic and political leaders enjoyed the luxury of public schools. I understand they were served full sized chicken everyday which I didn't enjoy in my time. Private schools where at the time considered inferior compared to public schools because of the quality of teachers and facilities. Imagine hectares of playing field in most public schools
Gradually the faith in public schools started dwindling when the same political leaders who benefited from its existence began destroying these schools. Painfully, private schools have taken over our educational system forcing low income earners and pupils from poor home to strain before getting basic education.
It doesn't end there, our tertiary institutions are towing same path of the 80's and very soon UNILAG, UNIBEN, UNIPORT, OAU and others will be a shadow of themselves making way for the numerous private universities emerging everyday.
