A firm employed me based on the number of my connections on LinkedIn. Of course, they didn't tell me that at the time. And, it wouldn't have been the sole reason.
However, when I finally found out, it made sense to me.
I mean, 15,000+ connections represented considerable reach. Naturally, the potential number of clients that I could introduce the services of the firm to was considerable and, that formed part of the incentive for the firm choosing to hire me remotely and, even though I was in Nigeria, a country notorious for scammers.
Please, don't get angry with me but, anyone who doesn't have a LinkedIn profile or, their LinkedIn profile isn't optimized, isn't taken seriously by most, if not all hiring managers nor are they taken seriously by possible partners if they are business owners.
I mean, let's just face it.
Why would a professional or business not be on the largest business and professional platform on Earth?
With almost a billion users?
And, all about business and professional activities unlike any other social platform where, in a way almost everything goes.
For a business and, a professional serious about growth and career progress, being on LinkedIn and, with an optimized profile should be a foregone conclusion.
I cannot list the number of opportunities that I have gotten on LinkedIn since my profile was optimized by Ed himself, lucky for me. Lol.

LinkedIn is just the place for professionals and businesses and, you want a firm that has 32+ years of experience in the niche working on your profile and leveraging it for maximum success.
We can't keep winging these things or scrimping on them and expect the kind of result that really investing in them brings.
It's just that simple.
How many times have we seen poor quality and cheap things disappoint us or others?
Quality delivers.
