I believe the church should not just be a gathering and praying church but she should be at the fore front of innovation and advancement. Whilst we must keep praying, studying the word, growing spiritually, etc. we must also build and innovative.
The church is more powerful than you think if she takes this stand and history proves it.
The Roman church in mediaeval times seemed more powerful than some nations because it was at the fore front of the emerging technology of the day. Whilst we can put forth the argument that the Roman church had deviated from the original doctrines of the early Apostles, the truth remains that the church was relevant because it was involved in what affected the people of those days.
Cascading further in history, individuals like John Knox, John Wesley, Martin Luther, etc brought various dimension of reforms, the church still remained relevant because of the role it played. The next generation of leaders were involved in innovation, education, health care, etc. It will interest you to know that most of the top Universities in the world like Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge especially those founded in the 18th century were founded by individuals from the church or directly by church leaders.
Harvard for example started out by training church clergy (aka seminary) before it evolved.
Same goes for major health centers across the world, this is why I just chuckle at the gross ignorance a lot of people have regarding the role church has played in civilization (anyways, story for another day).
I recently did a study on the impact Dr. Sunday Adelaja was able to make in Ukraine, he did that by solving the problem of the community eg the drug problems, prostitution, don't even get me started with the orange revolution his church fostered.
I'm saying all of this to say this, whilst we are praying , learning God's word and building ourselves for revival. There is a key aspect that is seldom talked about, and that is raising strategic thinkers and leaders in church that can foster world growth. The gospel still remains the MAJOR priority of the church, this world is not our final place or else we'd be most miserable of all people, however, we have a role to play in solving human needs in order to fuel our main goal, I believe I got this mindset from Dr. Sam Adeyemi.
There are tremendous changes coming to our world with AI, quantum computing, nano technology, etc. The church is not meant to play catch up, we are to have key leaders in these areas, folks like Daniel, Meshach, Bezalel, etc. playing active roles for the kingdom agenda and making the world a better place than we met it.
Don't let anyone shame you if you're not doing clergy ministry, there is a place for you because the strong historic church and movements we've seen weren't only built by the clergy but also by other congregants who had strong moral and Christian values.
