According to information made available to Segio Campus Reports correspondent in Lagos, Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) has provided an update following the reported physical assault at the College of Medicine involving Adebayo Oluwatumininu, a 300-level Nursing student. Oluwatumininu was allegedly assaulted by the mother of Hassan Temiloluwa, a Physiotherapy student.
After the incident, LASUSU Ikeja Campus Executives promptly intervened, taking Oluwatumininu to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for medical assessment after she reported an eye injury. She has received treatment, with the official medical report expected by Thursday.
Legal proceedings are underway, with Hassan Temiloluwaโs mother currently in police custody and scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of physical assault and alleged threats. Meanwhile, Hassan Temiloluwa will face the University Disciplinary Committee following established protocols.
LASUSU expressed gratitude to the University Management, the Centre for Gender-Based and Sexual Violence, and the Adebayo family for their role in ensuring justice. The Union condemned violence as a means of resolving conflicts and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding student welfare.
Acknowledgement was also given to DSP Onikoyi Oladipupo, Hon. Adeaga Emmanuel, and Comr. Tsap for their contributions in managing the situation.
