TOPIC: THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

FURTHER READING: MATT. 24:40-44

Text: And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (1 Jn. 3:3)

The thought of the second coming of Christ has an effect on the hearts of men and women living on the earth. The scripture above says every man with the hope set on the events of Christ's second coming purifies himself. This hope is seen in the 2nd verse of the same Chapter _"beloved, now are we the sons of God and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is"_ (1 Jn. 3:2). At the second coming of Christ, we will be transformed to become like Him. It is the hope of all hope for the believer when we shall be clothed with our new bodies in the excellent splendor of God's glory.

God wants us to always keep the thought of the second coming of Christ in full view at all times. We make wise decisions and adjust our ways whenever eternity comes to our minds. This often happens when we attend the funeral of someone we know. When Christ shall appear, we will suddenly realize that the things we might have put so much value in will suddenly lose all their value in an instant. Did it cross your mind that Jesus could return to earth today? What weight will your life have on the scale of eternity? Did you win souls? Did you build up believers to become more like Christ? Did you glorify God in your love, kindness, compassion and mercy shown to those around you? You can measure the weight of your life against the eternity scale by observing how much of your life makes an impact on people around you.

Keep the second coming of Christ in full view every day. Remember that He said He will come in a day that most people are not expecting- like today! So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matt. 24:44 NIV). The events that are happening around us tell us plainly that we are running out of time. Do not live such earthly lives that you make no investments in eternity. If today is that great Day, do you have anything to show for your life here on earth to the Father? Have you won souls? How many will go to heaven on the account of your mission's work?

PRAYER:
Pray that the Lord will cause your heart to always be prepared for the second coming of Christ and to win others for Him.

TOPIC: ALL NEED BE TOLD

FURTHER READING: ROMANS 1 (NIV)

Rom.1.1 - Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God--
Rom.1.2 - the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures
Rom.1.3 - regarding his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David,
Rom.1.4 - and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom.1.5 - Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.
Rom.1.6 - And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.
Rom.1.7 - To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom.1.8 - First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.
Rom.1.9 - God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you
Rom.1.10 - in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you.
Rom.1.11 - I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong--
Rom.1.12 - that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.
Rom.1.13 - I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
Rom.1.14 - I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.
Rom.1.15 - That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are at Rome.
Rom.1.16 - I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Rom.1.17 - For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
Rom.1.18 - The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
Rom.1.19 - since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.
Rom.1.20 - For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
Rom.1.21 - For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Rom.1.22 - Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools
Rom.1.23 - and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
Rom.1.24 - Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.
Rom.1.25 - They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.
Rom.1.26 - Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
Rom.1.27 - In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Rom.1.28 - Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
Rom.1.29 - They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,
Rom.1.30 - slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;
Rom.1.31 - they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
Rom.1.32 - Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Text:...Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures...and was buried...and that He rose again the third day according to Scriptures. (1 Cor. 15:3-4)

There must be consistency in the message of the gospel. After the Holy Spirit was given as promised by God the first message of the gospel by the apostles was preached to the
multitude that were not part of those that were in the upper room by Peter; and it was about the death and resurrection of Christ (Acts
2:22-47), and the message was consistent. Peter preaches the same message to Cornelius in (Acts 10:36-44). Apostle Paul, in Acts 13:16-52, preaches the same message. In Acts 17, the same of the gospel is preached. Even Paul always said the message of the gospel in his letters to the New Testament Churches (Rom. 1:1-4; 4:24-25; 6:4, 9;1 Cor. 6:4; 15:1; Gal.1:1; Eph. 1:20; Col. 2:12). The gospel is center on Christ: His death for the sins of the
world, His burial, and resurrection.

A sinner needs a believer to tell him that someone died for his sins. He needs to hear that someone took his place and died his death. He needs to know that salvation, which includes the power to subdue the dictates of the flesh, is now available (Rom. 1:16); he needs to know that the grace to reign in life is accessible. A sinner needs to hear that Christ dealt with the sin nature over two thousand years ago and was raised by God, to be saved. Are you available to share this Gospel? Or are you the sinner that has heard this now? If the former, share the Gospel today. Is this too much to ask?

*PRAYER:*
_I believe in the death of Christ, burial and resurrection for the sin of the world. I give myself to the sharing of the Gospel, in the name of Jesus._

HYMN FOR THE DAY: HYMN (220) SSS 488 MHB, 335: PASS ME NOT, O GENTLE SAVIOUR.

1: PASS me not, O gentle Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Saviour! Saviour!
Hear my humble cry,
And while others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

2: Let me at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

3: Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.

4: Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heaven but Thee?

GOVERNOR ENO FELICITATES AKWA IBOMITES ON DEMOCRACY DAY

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR , the leadership of the National Assembly, the Judiciary, Armed Forces and other Nigerians on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day.

In a goodwill message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno stated thus:

“Let me on behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, congratulate the President and Commander- in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on this year’s Democracy Day, which also marks 25 years of unbroken democratic rule in our dear nation.

“There is no doubt that our democracy has consolidated, and the traditions, norms and culture have also been deeply internalized by Nigerians.

“Let me thank the 10th National Assembly led by our son, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, the President of the Senate, for working collaboratively with the Executive Arm to make laws that advance the ideals of democracy and our shared hope and prosperity.

“The judiciary has also played a key role in deepening the consolidation process of our democracy. Above all, we thank the Nigerian people in general and especially my dear Akwa Ibom people for their faith in our democracy and its ennobling ideals.

“Let me also thank the Service Chiefs of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies, for the great role they have played in strengthening our democratic ethos through the subordination of their roles to civilian control.

“It has been 25 years of growth; of facing challenges associated with nation -building while addressing the needs of the people.

“Even though we still have many miles to travel, but the miles we have covered so far give us hope for the journey ahead.

“Let us continue to pray for our leaders and support them in their determined efforts to bring growth and development to our people.

“We must continue to celebrate our diversity and see this as a source of strength rather than an instrument to widen our faultlines and create further chasm of division.

“Our National Anthem says it all ; ‘Though tribes and tongues may differ, in brotherhood we stand.’

“Here in Akwa Ibom State, we will continue to roll our sleeves and work tirelessly across party lines to bring democratic dividends to our people, in line with our ARISE Agenda.

“Happy Democracy Day to us all!”
