We are incredibly proud to have built the Startphone Android Launcher for Odido.
A child's first smartphone is an exciting step, but it often throws them straight into the digital deep end. We wanted to create a solution that bridges the gap between technical parental controls and real-world digital upbringing.
Together with TBWA\NEBOKO, Odido Nederland and Dutch universities University of Amsterdam / Universiteit van Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Vonk developed an Android launcher that adapts to a child's age. Following the latest Dutch government guidelines for healthy screen time, Startphone guides children through four distinct development levels, gradually introducing messaging and social media only when they are ready.
What makes it unique?
• It’s 100% free and open to everyone in the Netherlands, no matter their telecom provider.
• It works seamlessly on older Android devices from 2019 and up, making it perfect for hand-me-downs.
• Strict privacy: zero user data is shared from the app.
