This coming Thursday evening we will have the Baarn Bitcoin
Blockchain Beer. While having a drink & dinner (at your own
expense) getting to know eachother, and exchanging experiences,
with fellow bitcoiners & blockchainers.

Maybe we will have something to eat with knife & fork.

Possible subjects to talk about:
Blockchain, what's that? What can you do with it? Will Bitcoin stay
calm? Which new developments are in the pipeline? SegWit?
What are those cross chain replay attacks on the Ethereum hard fork and
nofork chain? How about Lightning, Thunder &
Amiko-Pay? On which chain are you?
What is consensus good for? Is code the law? Immutability? Are you
allowed to rewrite hsitory? If yes, under which circumstances? Are
bailouts allowed? Smart or dumb contract? Smart signatures?
Dex? Can Bitcoin replace or work together with smart contracts? Or are
Bitcoin payments allready enough?

Less than five minutes walking from Baarn Railway Station, which is
reachable from three different directions:
Amersfoort (8 minutes, 2x per hour, half past one at night last train
back),
Amsterdam CS (36 minutes, 2x per hour
23 past twelve last train)
& Utrecht (half hour, 6x per hour,
23 past twelve last train).

Please let us know if you need a hotel or bed&breakfast (just around
the corner).

The Netherlands is where early attempts to integrate cryptography with
electronic money were made by David Chaum (Chaum.com) (inventor of many
cryptographic protocols. His 1981 paper, "Untraceable Electronic Mail,
Return Addresses, and Digital Pseudonyms", laid the groundwork for the
field of anonymous communications research. For example the predecessor
of TOR: Mix networks), through his companies DigiCash (anonymous
transactions) and ecash (anonymous electronic cash system), which used
cryptography to anonymise electronic money transactions.

Baarn

Baarn is a little town near Amsterdam and houses the former residency
(Soestdijk Palace) of the Dutch Royal family. In the south bordered by
woods, in the north by polders of the former Zuiderzee. Due to good
communications to Amsterdam, the town is home to one of our the largest
Dutch Bitcoin companies & a number of boutique international firms such
as SEI Investments Company, Bain & Co and Cerberus Capital Management.
Baarn has very good transport connections: Baarn railway station, with
trains going six times an hour to Utrecht (30 minutes), Amersfoort (10
minutes) and Amsterdam (about 36 minutes).

This time we will celebrate CoinFest:

Origins and Purpose

"CoinFest started in 2013 as a relatively small gathering of 100 or so Bitcoiners, celebrating the adoption of Bitcoin at a Waves Coffee House in Vancouver. It was conceived as a way to incentivize cryptocurrency acceptance while educating the public about its importance and use. Its popular success prompted the Bitcoiniacs (now CoinTrader) to place the world’s first Bitocin ATM there, which we again celebrated.

By 2014, CoinFest was growing in popularity, and that year it took a new direction: CoinFest spread across Canada and now internationally, exemplifying the border–defying and decentralized nature of crypto. Vancouver lead the way again by booking multiple venues simultaneously for a less centrally organized variety of exhibits, as Satoshi would have wanted. In 2015, CoinFest spread worldwide, and new ground was broken in Latin America and Europe.

Now it is celebrated worldwide, with no real center of authority. We hope you’ll join the fun!"
