Depending on who you ask, the answer can be very different. This time, we asked Mathware Designer Oksana Manyuhina.

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴
Many warehouses still rely on a standard box set that was never optimized for the products going into it. The result is often more empty space, more filling material, and higher shipping costs.

That's about to become a legal problem, not just a cost problem.

The EU's Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) sets new requirements for packaging efficiency, including a minimum fill rate of 50% for shipped parcels. The first obligations already apply from August 2026.

At Sioux Technologies, we look beyond simply minimizing empty space. By combining order history with real carrier rates, material costs, and handling requirements, we help determine the most cost-effective box portfolio and packaging choice for each order.

We helped Abbott put this approach into practice. Based on their shipping data, we developed an optimized set of boxes and introduced dedicated packing software to guide employees towards the best packaging option for each shipment.

The results were:
👉 -50% on filling material
👉 -30% on shipping costs
👉 -20% on corrugated carton

Sioux Technologies has celebrated the official opening of its new office in Pune, India, further strengthening our international engineering network.

Since its start, the Sioux India team has already grown to twenty qualified professionals, with a clear focus on further expansion. The team brings expertise in electronics, mechatronics, and mechanics, supporting high-tech companies with hardware development, value engineering, and lifecycle management.

The office was officially opened before the summer with a festive celebration rooted in Indian culture and tradition. During a traditional puja ceremony, the new workplace was blessed, marking an important milestone for the team and the continued growth of Sioux in India.

For customers, the Pune office provides additional engineering capacity, greater flexibility, and access to a strong pool of technical talent. Working closely with Sioux teams and customers across Europe and Asia, Sioux India helps organizations scale their project teams, support products throughout their lifecycle, and adapt solutions to local market requirements, regulations, and available components.

The opening of the Pune office marks an important step in the continued growth of Sioux India and further strengthens collaboration across Sioux’s international engineering network.
