The substitution of metallic reinforcement layers in the multilayer structure by the thermoplastic FRP presents a solution for sustainability issues. The longer life-cycle of a LATW/LATP product requires a better production quality such as bond strength via controling nip-point temperature. Eliminating expensive trial and error costs needs a simulation tool. This can only be fulfilled if a physics-based model is employed as a sustainable development in the production cycle to control this process. The full automation procedure is the output solution of the LATW/LATP simulation model to put LATW/LATP production to the next level generation regarding sustainability. Thus, less waste and better quality of final product nurture people, economy, and natural resources which results in harmony with nature and prosperity in life.

Hydrogen tanks in the automotive industry or high-resistance tubes in oil and gas industry are some of the application of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) products which can be made by LATW/LATP process. Thanks to these advanced techniques, a seamless production chain of FRP products is possible. However, a closed-loop control model based on a predictive simulation ensures proper quality such as bonding strength during the Winding/Placement. For that reason, an integrated computer-implemented method named OTOM was developed to obtain better bonding quality such as bonding strength. It can be achieved by predicting proper bonding conditions on generic surfaces. Analyzing laser irradiation, absorption, and reflection together with heat transfer phenomena during rotation of the mandrel and roller is one of the main scientific contributions of this software. This challenge was resolved by an intelligent algorithm to discretize the boundary conditions of the optical and thermal models to calculate nip-point temperature where the incoming tape bonded to the substrate. Optimization of defined parameters for the desired goal was also designed to prevent the LATW/LATP process to make an inferior product.
