Today is a unique double-header for us at Red Bear. It marks both International Women in Engineering Day and National Family Owned & Operated Businesses Day, giving us the perfect opportunity to celebrate our brilliant team and give a proud nod to our parent company, ASEE Group.

At Red Bear, we have always benefited from the best of both worlds. Through ASEE, we are grounded in the core values, trust, and long-term commitment that come with a dedicated, family-led enterprise. That strong foundation is what allows us to look forward, innovate, and champion the very best engineering talent in the industry.

Today, we are shining a massive spotlight on the incredible women engineers across both Red Bear and the wider ASEE group. From pre-construction planning to on-site delivery, their expertise, problem-solving, and leadership are vital to driving our projects forward. Engineering is all about diverse perspectives coming together to solve complex challenges, and we are incredibly proud of the women leading the way on our teams.

🟢 Safety Excellence in Action: Congratulations, Andrei!

We are thrilled to share that our colleague, Andrei Ciorica, was awarded a Red Bear Green Card last week!

Andrei was nominated by his manager, Gerard Donohoe, for demonstrating outstanding safety standards during recent complex electrical works and testing activities. His commitment to working safely, maintaining high standards, and rigorously following established procedures is a perfect example of our safety culture in action.

🎳 Procurement & Finance Team Bonding in Dundalk!

Our 2026 Procurement & Finance Team bonding night in Dundalk was a fantastic success, kicked off in true, competitive Red Bear fashion!

The stakes were high and the energy was brilliant as we split into teams. After two fast-paced rounds of bowling, Glenn claimed the top spot (it’s always good policy to let the boss win!), closely followed by Adam, who made a spectacular comeback to secure second, and Kristina, who rounded out the top three with a remarkably steady performance across both games.

After refueling over some great food, we headed over to the sports simulators for the next round of challenges:

🏏 In the Batting Cage: A huge thank you to Martin for being such a brilliant sport. He bravely faced down 95 km/h tennis balls with a smile before we mercifully dialed the speed back to beginner level!

🏌️‍♂️ On the Greens: The golf simulator was a major highlight. While we shared plenty of laughs over our wild swings and collective inability to complete a Par-3 hole, Matthew proved to be a total golf bandit and comfortably took home the win.

Beyond the friendly competition, it was a fantastic evening spent unwinding, laughing, and connecting outside of the office.

A massive thank you to the entire team for your continued hard work, dedication, and the incredible energy you bring to Red Bear every day! 🐻💼

Setting a standard for workplace well-being: Meet our Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders) at Red Bear. 🐻❤️

At Red Bear, we believe that looking after our team’s safety means protecting both their physical and emotional well-being.

In any fast-paced industry, having a trusted, confidential outlet can make all the difference when navigating life’s challenges.

That is why we are incredibly proud to champion our dedicated team of certified Mental Health First Aiders!

These individuals span across different departments.  From Health & Safety to Operations - ensuring our team always has someone accessible to turn to:

What do our MHFAiders do? They aren’t therapists or psychiatrists. Instead, they act as an active, non-judgmental listening ear and a confidential point of contact for anyone experiencing poor mental health or emotional distress. Their role is to provide initial support and, when needed, effectively signpost individuals toward professional, long-term help.

We want to send a massive thank you to this team for volunteering their time, their empathy, and their energy to ensure that no one at Red Bear has to struggle in silence.

Building a great company culture isn’t just about the work we deliver; it’s about how we show up for each other every single day.

It’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and today is National May Ray Day.

As tech professionals, we are masters at keeping an eye on server health, network speeds, and system alerts. But how often do we check our own internal dashboard?

Whether you’re working behind a desk or out on-site today, take this as your cue to pause if your ‘battery’ is running low. Step away for a few minutes to grab a coffee, chat with a colleague or step outside into the fresh air.

We can reboot a server in seconds, but protecting your mental health takes intentional time.

Be kind to yourself today and always.

The Cloud isn’t in the sky. It’s on the ground.

The recent data centre fire in Almere, The Netherlands, served as a stark, reality-checking reminder for the digital world: ‘The Cloud’ is not an ethereal concept floating in the atmosphere. It is physical.

The fire knocked out Utrecht University’s servers, forcing them to close most buildings and pause normal operations for days while they scrambled to recover their IT systems. Communication servers for transport operator Transdev crashed. Without a backup server location, drivers lost contact with the control room and emergency panic buttons were completely disabled.

Of course, no facility is entirely immune to accidents, but this incident underscores why data centres are the true engines of modern society. They aren’t just storage spaces; they are critical infrastructure on par with power grids and water lines.
