Voor al deze systemen is EDU Support het eerste aanspreekpunt. Het EDU Support team bestaat volledig uit parttime student-assistenten die de gebruikers....

Meet Marleen Merkus, Reinard van Dalen and Josien de Boer - the second part of the FLE team. Students are the biggest user group for Brightspace and the team has been working hard to make sure they have a successful start by the 1st of September.

The Future of the Learning Environment team (FLE team) is working very hard to allow for a successful switch from Blackboard to Brightspace. In this short video we would like to introduce the first part of the FLE team. Last week the developer of online learning environment Brightspace, D2L, organized the 'Connection' event hosted by the Radboud University in Nijmegen. D2L Connection was a great opportunity to exchange ideas, connect with other institutions that use Brightspace, learn about new features and get to know the Brightspace community. Several representatives from Groningen attended the event where topics such as technology enhanced learning, technology integration and effective practices were discussed. A big thank you to D2L for two inspiring days and we are looking forward to a bright future with Brightspace!

For over 20 years the University of Groningen used Blackboard Learn as the core system in Nestor. So why replace this Learning Management System (LMS)? And why Brightspace?

The main reason to replace Blackboard Learn, is that this LMS will be developed less and less, until eventually it will not be supported anymore. Another reason is that due to the more intensive use of the online learning environment, the limitations of Blackboard Learn became clear.

To look for an alternative, the university gathered groups of professors, experts from the faculties and services, and students. These groups looked into other alternatives and visited universities using different systems. The group visiting the University of Ottawa, where they use Brightspace, came back very enthusiastic about their experience. They saw that with all the functionalities of Brightspace our university and education can be enhanced. Consequently, after extensive testing of the all the prospective new systems, the university chose Brightspace to be the new LMS.
