Battery Manufacturing: Sealing Requires Thermal Precision — Not Just Heat

⚙️ In pouch cell assembly, multilayer films must be thermally sealed to create a hermetic enclosure.

These films combine:
• aluminium barrier layers
• polymer sealing layers

🎯 The challenge:
Activate the sealing layer —
without overheating adjacent materials or internal cell components.

Thermal input must be:
• localized
• repeatable
• compatible with automated assembly

🔥 Infrared enables contact-free, spatially defined heating of the sealing zone.
This allows:
• selective activation of functional layers
• minimal thermal load on surrounding areas
• fast response for high-throughput production

📈 The result: sealing becomes a controlled, localized thermal process, not a bulk heating step.

The decisive factor is the delivered UV dose (mJ/cm²) under real operating conditions:

• Flow dynamics
• Transmittance (UVT)
• Reactor design
