Innovative hatches in conversion project!

MV Fjord Connector, built in 2014, is presently under conversion in Szczecin. The vessel has been transformed from an offshore supply vessel to a vessel adapted for laying cables and submarine fiber optic installations.

The hatches are special designed for the vessel, making it optional how large the opening to the hull shall be. They are designed by Peak Marine Tech’s experienced engineering team.

Innovative hatch cover solutions!

Peak Marine Tech delivering Piggyback Stacking Hatch Cover solutions for for Seaworks PK-164 LNG Eco Bulk vessel.

Hatch covers are equipped with automatic cross joint cleating system which will significantly reduce manual operation onboard during hatch cover opening and closing operation.

Automatic high lift arrangements are designed in such a way that no manual operation is needed while hatch covers are stacking / unstacking at stowage position.

PMT is using maintenance-free graphite bushings in moving parts which will significantly reduce onboard maintenance.

In total, the technical solutions provided by Peak Marine Tech will considerably improves cargo operation at loading and discharging at ports.

Meet our new colleague, Thomas Kobald!

Thomas started in Peak Marine Tech August 1. as Mechanical Engineer. He has a master’s degree within mechanical engineering and business economics from the Technical University of Graz, Austria. He has worked as an intern during his studies, something which gave him relevant work experience as an engineer. After his studies he has worked with lifecycle engineering with focus on maintenance.

- Peak Marine Tech is a dynamic and international company that offers many exciting opportunities for me as a newly educated engineer, Thomas says. I am already designing a drive mechanism for a large and heavy turntable for a cable laying vessel.

In Peak Marine Tech, Thomas attend Peak Group’s onboarding program with the purpose of giving him the best introduction in his job and in the Peak Group.

- It has been a very nice start up for me, and I already feel as part of the Peak-family, he says.

Peak Marine Tech delivered cargo elevator system (double pallet) for Vard NB923.

PMT's delivery consists of electrically operated cargo lift equipped with chain conveyor, bridge conveyor for smooth transfer of cargo between palletizing system to elevator table at process deck, and tank top conveyor for efficient transfer of cargo from elevator table to freezer hold.

The system is designed in such a way that cargo loading and unloading process occurs automatically with interlocking to sliding doors at respective decks.

PMT's control systems are designed to access the equipment from remote location which improves serviceability and reduce downtime significantly.

Sustainable solutions in an innovative conversion project – MV Fjord Connector

MV Fjord Connector, built in 2014, is presently under conversion in Szczecin. The vessel has been transformed from an offshore supply vessel to a vessel adapted for laying cables and submarine fiber optic installations.

The conversion of the ship is extensive, and includes installation of hybrid drive with batteries, upgrade of cargo hold room, installation of cable laying equipment and DP System. Batteries will be charged by shore power and use the hybrid drive during the voyage and cable laying mode.

- Conversion of MV Fjord Connector is an innovative project in many ways and show that using existing ships for conversion is a good opportunity for investing in sustainable solutions, says CEO Stian Andre Larsen.

Peak Marine Tech is responsible for full conversion project management including design and engineering.

Peak Marine Tech delivers complete cargo handling turnkey solutions to Rimfrost’s ultra-modern Antarctic krill trawler vessel. Peak Marine Tech’s delivery consists of a cargo elevator which transfers cargo between process deck and freezer deck, and a side loading system which consists of a pallet elevator and a side door for handing fish products at sea and quayside. The side door, which is part of the hull, was delivered to the yard ahead of schedule and is installed onboard. The cargo elevator and pallet elevator will be delivered within Q2-2022.
