Two of our students have been working super hard the last month to design and make a neopixel Arduino light up dress for a Christmas event. Both students showed bravery starting a project without knowing how to finish it or having all the skills needed. Soldering lots of wires where one mistake would be a big issue racing against time to finish in our last class yesterday. In the last minute everything worked perfectly. They learned how to solder and Program an Arduino as well as many other prototyping skills. I am so proud of them and look forward to more projects like this from them and my other students next year. Happy Holidays see you next year.

Students at our SFO can build grow lights so plants can grow during our long dark winter. It is amazing to build something to allow life to grow. Here we have a small apple tree that is doing great with its new grow light. Students can even use an Arduino to turn the light on during the day and water the plant when it is dry automatically.

Many of our students are now building large remote control airplanes out of free cardboard and hot glue. We told them to build what they want. They are learning how airplanes fly and how important it is to balance the plane on the quarter cord of the wing. We have a RC plane simulator with real remote so students can practice flying before flying the plane they built. Students are now building their planes and testing their gliding performance on our 15 meter runway inside our large workshop. Then they will add a motor and controls before being able to fly it outside. If it breaks just repair it with more free cardboard.

One of our students is building a flapping fish. We learned how to program Arduinos and build electric circuits. The students where given the open project to makes something with an Arduino microcontroller.

This student started prototyping the fish in carboard and hot glue to see how it moves. built and tested and made lots of changes. Next week we will 3D print a fish and paint it.

I want to do a class with adults where we all build furniture together from pallet wood. We would provide the tools, work benchs, pallets and teach you how to take apart pallets and build stuff with them.

At the end you can take home whatever you built and your new skills. You can build some really cool stuff from free wood and help the environment.

I am just checking how many people would be interest. I was thinking one evening during the week maybe 18:00 to 21:00. I would keep it small maybe just 4 groups of 1 or 2 people. If there is lots of interest I can do several events. For cost I was thinking 1000 per group.

Makerspace update. It was really fun having our first students in the makerspace. Rune Vikan and I helped the students build solar cars with super capacitors and gave them a tour of the workshop. I look forward to having more students in the future. Next week Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday
