Our Director of AI Academics, Rojesh Shikhrakar, participated as a panelist at the 2026 Leadership Policy Dialogue in South Asia: Charting Responsible and Innovative AI Integration in Higher Education.

The dialogue was jointly hosted by the UNESCO Kathmandu Office, Tribhuvan University, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO (UNESCO-ICHEI).

During the panel, he spoke about the need for structural academia-industry collaboration to address the widening AI talent gap in the region. He also emphasized that building a stronger AI-ready workforce requires deeper and more sustainable collaboration between universities and industry.

नेपालका लागि एआई अब केवल प्रयोग गर्ने प्रविधि मात्र होइन, निर्माण गर्नुपर्ने रणनीतिक पूर्वाधार हो। एआई अनुसन्धान र प्रयोगलाई प्रभावकारी रूपमा अघि बढाउन बलियो कम्प्युट संरचना आवश्यक हुन्छ। त्यसैले नेपालको आईसीटी क्षेत्रलाई सबल बनाउन, डिजिटल अर्थतन्त्रलाई अझ मजबुत बनाउन र भविष्यको एआई युगमा आत्मनिर्भरता हासिल गर्न नेपालले आफ्नै सार्वभौम एआई कम्प्युट केन्द्र (AI Factory) निर्माण गर्नु आवश्यक छ।

नेपालको समृद्ध जलविद्युत् क्षमता, प्राकृतिक चिस्यान र प्रतिस्पर्धी लागतले देशलाई एआई कम्प्युट सेवाको सम्भावित केन्द्रका रूपमा स्थापित गर्न सक्छ। यस्तो कम्प्युट केन्द्र सरकारका लागि मात्र उपयोगी संरचना नभई हजारौँ उद्यमी, अनुसन्धानकर्ता, विश्वविद्यालय, विद्यार्थी र निजी क्षेत्रका लागि एआई समाधान निर्माण गर्ने साझा आधार बन्न सक्छ।

सार्वभौम एआई कम्प्युट केन्द्रले डेटा सुरक्षा, डिजिटल सार्वभौमिकता, स्थानीय नवप्रवर्तन र प्रतिभा विकासलाई थप बलियो बनाउनेछ। त्यसैले नेपालले डेटा सार्वभौमिकता, अनुसन्धान, स्टार्टअप, प्रतिभा विकास र डिजिटल अर्थतन्त्रलाई एउटै राष्ट्रिय रणनीतिमा जोडेर सार्वभौम एआई कम्प्युट केन्द्र निर्माणलाई अब प्राथमिकताका रूपमा अघि बढाउनुपर्छ।
