If you recycle a laptop through us, we go and destroy any data on the drive with a process called a “Writeout”. This involves a specialised tool going through the drive and writing all 0 or all 1 to the drive. Data is stored in a thing called “Binary” which are billions and trillions of 1s and 0s. By doing a writeout, it securely removes any data forever.

Any laptop, desktop or drive we receive or swap gets securely erased 3 days after receiving it, so please make sure to reach out within 3 days of recycling your laptop or receiving your swapped drive so we can get your files.
