Government of Ontario, TakingITGlobal, and Cisco Canada Enhance Digital Equity for Students in Remote Indigenous Communities

"TORONTO, ON, Sept. 29, 2023 – Today, the Government of Ontario, TakingITGlobal (TIG) and Cisco Canada announced the renewal of funding for the Connected North program, bringing the provincial government’s total investment to nearly $2 million in two years. "

The NZ IoT Alliance hosted a webinar with the focus on ‘Next Tech Frontier: Exploring IoT and Multi-Modal AI’. The Alliance, said “were fortunate to hear from Fraser Paine, Aware Group, Steven Dirven, Shape Technology, and our own chair, Kriv Naicker, who provided an in-depth exploration of the merging areas of IoT and multi-modal AI, offering exciting insights and possibilities.”

Fraser Paine Sales Director at Aware Group was “demonstrating a revolutionary application that reduced the time taken to analyse animal samples for parasitic infections from six days to just six seconds.”

Before ending her article Alison say’s some valuable stuff and I quote;

“The potential role of IoT in driving environmental sustainability was an inspiring topic. By creating connected ecosystems, IoT can influence how products are made, used, and disposed of, contributing to the larger goal of a circular economy. The New Zealand government’s cloud-first policy definition is no longer fit for purpose, infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) out of its has refreshed its definition to encourage the use of true cloud.

revoking the 2012 IaaS directive and ruling that principal policy lingo confusing to angencies ruling and updated modernised policies agreements in April 2023.

Hyperscale cloud provider Microsoft welcomed the changes.

"We were delighted to see the government refresh its cloud-first policy for public services in April 2023, recognising the potential for public cloud to enable efficiencies through modern, secure and accessible services for citizens while supporting a reduction in the carbon footprint of our government services," it said in a blog post.

​The government has refreshed its cloud-first policy, dropping infrastructure-as-a-service out of its 2012 definition to encourage the use of true cloud.
