Shopify is brilliant at one thing: turning visitors into orders.

It does not tell you which suppliers to chase, what your last unit cost was, whether a backorder is sitting unfulfilled, or how many units you need to reorder before next week's run on a hero product.

Most Shopify-only operators handle this in a spreadsheet. Suppliers in column A. Lead times in column B. Reorder quantities calculated by squinting at last week's sales export and adding 20% for safety. The storefront grew up. The purchasing side never did.

NexWave Essentials brings the Shopify connector (NZ$55 per month) into a real Procurement module. Sales velocity feeds reorder points. Suppliers, lead times, last-paid prices, and RFQ history sit in the same system as your stock and your sales orders. The reorder decision stops being a Tuesday-morning panic and becomes a flag in your inbox.

NZ$249 per month for the Essentials plan covers inventory, sales orders, procurement, and analytics. Add the Shopify connector for NZ$55 per month and the storefront becomes one more channel feeding a single back office.

Your storefront deserves a back office that grew up with it.

You chose Cin7 for inventory. You chose Xero or MYOB for accounting. Now your bookkeeper spends a day every month explaining why the stock totals in one don't match the books in the other.

Two systems, two subscriptions, one connector between them, and a recurring reconciliation tax.

Cin7 is good inventory software. It was never going to be your accounting system, because that isn't what it's built for. The cracks usually show up a few months in: returns logged in one place but not the other, stock adjustments that never posted to the books, supplier credits sitting in limbo between the two.

NexWave Essentials starts with inventory, sales orders, and procurement in one stack from day one. NZ$249 per month for up to 3 users. When you're ready for accounting in the same system, it's a NZ$99 per month add-on. Not a second subscription with a second vendor and a second login.

One stack. One source of truth. No reconciliation tax.

If you're shopping for inventory software right now and Cin7 is on the shortlist, it's worth asking whether you're solving the whole problem or just half of it.

The usual pitch for a Xero integration is "it syncs your invoices to Xero." That's the version that hides the interesting problems.

A two-line integration works perfectly on a calm afternoon with one user, no traffic, and a freshly restarted system. Production doesn't look like that.

In production, the worker pushing an invoice crashes halfway through. A user cancels a document locally while the Xero API call is in flight. A line has no tax mapping and the error is useless. Xero has a five-minute outage and the retry queue creates duplicates of everything.

NexWave's Xero connector is built around those afternoons:
- Idempotent retries that ask Xero first before creating a duplicate
- Specific, actionable error messages naming the item and the missing mapping
- Four-step tax template fallback (line → document → item → company)
- Every attempt logged and retryable with one click from the Sync Log

The difference shows up at month-end, when the Xero ledger matches NexWave without a manual reconciliation pass.

Most NZ SMBs say they've "mostly moved off spreadsheets." The reality is closer to three shadow spreadsheets still running the business.

The stock tracker. Updated nightly, out of date by morning. Costs: stock-outs, oversells, reactive purchasing when a key SKU hits zero without warning.

The timesheet. Email attachments, approval chains, manual payroll entry each pay run. Costs: compliance risk, payroll errors, manager hours that scale with headcount.

The invoice tracker. Sits between Xero and the CRM, tracks what's actually been chased. Costs: follow-ups missed, revenue slipping through the gap, no audit trail when the person who owned the file leaves.

If you recognise one of these, you're not alone. You're also not stuck with it. One system, one version of the numbers, is what closes all three.

NZ businesses quote prices GST-inclusive. Most ERPs assume the opposite.

Walk into any shop, cafe, or trades business in Auckland and the price on the tag already includes GST. Swing tag reads $1,150, not "$1,000 plus GST." Invoices lead with the inclusive total. Bank statements show inclusive amounts.

When an accounting system forces exclusive-first entry, staff spend the day doing mental arithmetic. Line-level rounding drifts. Month-end reconciliation takes hours it shouldn't.

NexWave treats GST-inclusive as the default, not the exception:
- Per-document toggle between inclusive and exclusive
- Per-company default so the team never has to think about it
- Tax-aware journal entries that balance at gross during draft and split cleanly on submit

A system that matches how NZ actually does business removes the daily friction.

Xero is brilliant at accounting. It isn't an ERP.

Enterprise ERPs go the other way. They're built for bigger companies with bigger budgets, and their per-user licensing gets more expensive the more a small business grows.

This is the gap. An NZ business with 25 staff has outgrown Xero plus spreadsheets, but doesn't belong on an enterprise ERP contract either.

NexWave was built for this gap.

One system for accounting, inventory, CRM, sales, project management, and manufacturing. Built for NZ, Australian, and UK compliance. And priced differently: flat by edition and user-tier band, not per user. A wholesale distributor starts from NZ$415 per month. A manufacturer with 15 staff pays the same tier as one with 6.

Growth shouldn't make software cost more. It should mean more people using the same system.

If your team is stitching together Xero, a stock tool, a CRM, and half a dozen spreadsheets, the gap is already costing you. The only question is when to close it.
