🏆 What do this year’s Best Places to Work™ Awards Finalists have in common?

They’re paying close attention to how their people experience work, and using what they learn to keep making that experience better.

Across the 2026 finalists, we see three things coming through strongly:

✅ They listen to their people.
Creating meaningful opportunities for people to share their experience helps leaders understand what’s working well and where greater support or attention may be needed.

✅ They act on what they hear.
Listening matters most when people can see that their voice leads somewhere. Turning employee insight into thoughtful action builds confidence that feedback is valued and helps organisations focus on what will make a meaningful difference.

✅ They invest in their people.
Giving people the clarity, support and resources they need to do their best work strengthens their experience and helps them contribute to what the organisation is working to achieve.

These are everyday practices, but done consistently, they can make a real difference to how people experience work and how organisations perform over time.

In the 2026 BPTW™ Annual Survey, we asked employees to describe their workplace in just one word.

🎉 The 2026 Best Places to Work™ Awards Shortlist is here!

We're proud to reveal the organisations from across Aotearoa New Zealand that are named on the 2026 Best Places to Work™ Awards Shortlist, recognising those that value employee insight, invest in their people, and consistently strengthen workplace culture.

Every shortlisted organisation has earned its place through the voices of its own people in the 2026 Best Places to Work™ Annual Survey. That's what makes this recognition meaningful.

Now the work continues. Shortlisted organisations will prepare their Awards submissions over the coming month, ahead of the first round of judging. Finalists will be announced in late August, before the 2026 Best Places to Work™ Awards on 22 October.
