I’d like to share my story. ⭐
I had just finished my BCom at St Andrews College in Mumbai and the world was my oyster.
My brother Lincoln is an accountant in Dubai and back in 1992 I saw how successful he was and how accountancy could provide for my future financial success.
My parents, instilled in my two siblings and I, that having a good education will set you up for success.
But was accountancy my calling?
So here I was 20 years of age, the world at my feet and I had a big decision to make. First, I just wanted to make some money.
I landed an internship in a CA firm and after about 6 months I began to question whether the work was going to fulfil my ambition for business success.
Sure, accountancy is a long-standing respected profession but the thing that was missing was the interaction with people.
Enter Maxy.
He was a successful Chartered Accountant, in his mid-thirties, was the leader of my youth group and had known me for most of my life. I asked him, “am I a numbers person or a salesperson”?
He said “From your work as a treasurer of the youth group, I see that you have a good head for numbers but equally, so you made us a lot of money by being innovative in our fund-raising efforts. You’d make a good leader of people, he said”.
For five years I worked in a sales role for a graphic design and print company leading a team of eight and I loved learning about sales techniques. But I longed to run my own business.
I needed to understand how sales worked with marketing, operations and finance. So, I went back to Maxy, and he said, “Go do an MBA”.
👉 Through all this learning, it’s cemented my belief that a good education will set you up for success.
🔥 This is why I like working with schools to help them with design and print.
My vision is to lead the most trusted yearbook design and print in Auckland.
I lead Repro Graphics, a design and print shop in Takapuna but working with clients around NZ.
