Get an inside look into the footwear wholesale market with Hans Skovsgaard Summers at 'On'!

Have you ever wondered how shoes make it to the shelves of your favourite shoe retailer? You'll be surprised to learn that this seemingly easy process actually takes many months from start to finish.

The entire process to get a shoe to market is lengthy and can sometimes take as long as 36 months before the final product hits the market! Many months will be spent designing and manufacturing a quality shoe product, before the sales team is able to present the complete shoe catalogue to the retailer to make their sales - a process which takes approximately six months all on its own.

With huge technological leaps forward, come concerns that innovation will eat up available jobs and will leave ordinary workers unemployed. While the fear that robots will soon take your job has a grain of truth to it, it's not in the way you might think! The jobs taken away will not be forgone, but rather, will be replaced by something bigger, and better.

With innovation as a driving force behind your business, you will move away from 'grunt work' and towards strategising and being more creative around those parts of your business that matter.

Are you feeling that you're interested in a change in careers? Perhaps a new company or an entirely new field - but you don't know exactly what. NJ Falk says that it's important to recognize how you're feeling, and then start looking at the world and what you're interested in.

What conversation do you want to be a part of and shape? It's important to examine the world and plan ahead. Give yourself time to work through this process - nothing happens all at once. Falk says to give yourself a year at least - nothing happens instantly!
