Thursday Throwback! 📸

We’ve been at our current location at 33 Clyde Street in Invercargill since 1989, but before that the magic happened at 137 Ettrick Street (after Clive decided the garage at home wasn’t cutting the mustard).

Happy 21st birthday Adam 🎉

He’s a man of few words our Adam, but at the social club get-togethers you best believe he’s the life of the party.

A powder-coating powerhouse, Adam joined the crew in 2022 - closely followed by his big sister Kendyl not long after!

He’s a massive NFL fan and although I couldn’t tell you what team he supports, I do know it’s not ‘the guy on the Chiefs’ (IYKYK).

He’s a hard worker who takes real pride in his powder coating - his skills keep growing from strength to strength.

🎉 Happy birthday Ben!

Like most millennials on the team, 16 year old Ben started at CWS as the ‘after-school boy’. After a brief stint at Uni, we lured him back to the tools for an Electrical apprenticeship and - almost 15 years later - his skill-set has only grown from there.

Ben is a bit of a unicorn: not only an Electrician, Ben is currently training in Automation, quoting for the Estimation team, drawing for the Drafting team, AND is the resident computer whizz you holler for when you pushed a button you weren’t meant to (guilty) 🤣

He’s a hard worker, a clever cookie and we’re lucky to have him on the team!

Ben thought he had escaped having his photo taken for his birthday shoutout, but Ben forgot about the archives 😝

🎉 Happy Birthday Lynda!

A drafting department legend, Lynda has been part of the CWS family for more than 41 years – our longest-tenured team member!

She joined us from Telecom all those years ago and has been a key part of our drafting team ever since.

With more than a few stories to share, Lynda has had a front seat to the technology changes in drafting over the years – from the huge, angled desk armed with a ruler, pencil and tracing paper, right through to fully computer-aided-design (CAD) – she’s seen it all.

We’re incredibly grateful for her dedication and contribution to our team over the decades – people like you are a rarity, Lynda, and we count ourselves lucky!

The smiley face you all know and love when you walk in the front door at CWS is off on her next big adventure - motherhood!

Krystal, we wish you and Joe all the very best as you welcome your baby boy into the world - we cannot wait to meet him 🍼

You’ll be so missed over the next year, but you’ve trained Kendyl well and leave us in great hands (and an equally as smiley face!)

🎉 Happy birthday Pam!

If you haven’t met Pam yet, she’s the Queen at the helm of our Engraving department here at Clive Wilson Switchboards.

Now a Kelman after her wedding in March, Pam is a proud Wilson, and the youngest daughter of our founder Clive!

Pam has been such an important part of our team for more than 35 years, and has an absolute wealth of knowledge of all things laser cutting and engraving - from switchboard labels and signage, to fire panels and name badges, and Chief Machinist for our e-commerce store, www.lovefromseventeen.nz.

Although I now owe her a coffee and a birthday muffin for making her take this photo, please send her the biggest of birthday wishes 🥳🎂

Clive Wilson Switchboards is looking for a Storeperson to oversee our Stores Department in Invercargill.
You’ll support our switchboard, powder coating and engraving divisions with goods receipt, inventory control, dispatch and forklift work in a busy workshop environment.

What you’ll need:
• Prior experience as a Storeperson
• Forklift licence
• Full unrestricted NZ driver’s licence
• Unrestricted NZ work rights
• Good physical fitness (the role is physically demanding)
• Solid Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

The role:
• Full time, 40 hours per week
• Mon to Thu 8:00am to 4:30pm, Fri 7:00am to 3:15pm
• Immediate start, full training provided
• Locally-owned and operated for almost 60 years in Southland.

Clive Wilson Engraving was imagined in the 80s when our founder Clive - true to the Southland attitude - questioned why he would pay someone to make our labels when he could very well do it himself. Quite a few decades later with some pretty impressive advancements in technology, the Engraving department continues to grow and is as busy as ever - laser cutting far more than just assorted Switchboard labels nowadays.

You’ll find department manager Pam and her computerised laser engraving machines hard at work in our Clyde Street premises in Invercargill.
