I have had a few customers call mentioning a phone call saying “amazon or microsoft have accessed your credit card”, one customer allowed access to their laptop and is now having to chase a large sump of money from the bank, cancelled credit cards and has disrupted their ability to pay the bills and have money until all of this is sorted.
I also took a call from the screenshot of number last week, not sure of the nationality but possibly Indian or Pakistani and him and I had a great conversation about why I didn’t believe him. After a few minutes he hung up, I reported ASB fraud Team and hopefully that send that.
If people are ringing you claim to be from a bank hang up. Then if you’re still concerned go down to your local bank and ask for assistance. It is a good idea to place your bank passwords and make sure you have some sort of multi form authentication enabled, this should be standard protocol when using online banking.
Again if you’re unsure go to your bank and seek advice, but do not engage with people over the phone claiming to be from your bank or a bank representative.
