Our heart goes out to all in Hawkes Bay and Tairawhiti who have been affected by Cyclone Gabrielle.

Thankfully the team at Just In Tech are all safe.

We have already successfully recovered data from 5 flood damaged computers and have more in line for next week.

Time is of the essence and water is not a computers friend, so here's what you can do to maximise the chances of getting you critical files back if your computer or external hard drive has been submerged:

1. DO NOT power it on to see if it still works.
2. Ideally bring it straight into us as the quicker we can clean the hard drive the more chance we have of recovering data. At the very least take it to an IT professional and get them to remove the hard drive and let it dry out.

At this stage we are prioritising:

1. Business critical computers (I.e. you need the data to run your business right now (this does not include servers))
2. Irreplaceable photos such as baby, wedding and family photos.

We will donate 25% of any data recovery invoices to the Cyclone Relief Fund.
