A home should work with the way you live.

For this farmhouse, we spent a lot of time thinking about the everyday — life on the farm, trips to the beach, and all the coming and going that happens in between.

The outdoor shower was a simple addition that came from that. Positioned to make the most of the view, it’s an easy place to rinse off after a surf or wash away the mud and dust after a day on the farm.

It then leads straight into the mudroom, making that transition from outside to in a little easier.

Just a small, practical detail, but one that felt right for this home and the way it’s lived in.

When a home is intentionally pared back, every detail matters.

The minimalist aesthetic was central to the brief for this home, so each element was carefully considered to feel simple, cohesive and purposeful — including the built-in wood burner and surround.

The long, low form keeps the unit understated, with a dedicated space for storing firewood and a hearth set flush with the flooring for a seamless finish. Subtle mid-century and Nordic influences bring warmth and character while staying true to the simplicity the clients were looking for.

It’s these practical details, considered alongside the overall design, that help a home feel effortless.

A defining feature of the Coromandel farmhouse renovation is the new gallery hallway introduced along the southern side of the home. A considered response to the internal layout, the gallery allows the bedrooms to connect and flow naturally, while transforming the southern side of the original farmhouse into an engaging part of the home. A glazed feature offers a view through the gallery and out towards the ocean on approach, creating a sense of arrival while drawing natural light into the interior.

A brand in the wild… It was such a pleasure working with Terane from the very beginning and watching the brand evolve into the multi-award-winning Bay of Plenty gin it is today.

One of the most rewarding parts of creating a brand is seeing it come to life beyond the initial identity — across all the little touchpoints that make a brand feel like a brand.

A great local story, a great gin, and a brand we’re very proud to have been part of.

A pretty special transformation.

Set amongst Coromandel farmland with expansive views across the ocean, this was a home with an extraordinary setting, but an existing farmhouse that had fallen into disrepair.

The brief was to create a home that felt calm and connected to the slower rhythm of life here.

The renovation retains the spirit of the original low-slung farmhouse, extending the long gable form and drawing on subtle mid-century influences. The architecture was shaped around the way the family lives, opening the living spaces towards the horizon and creating a gentle connection between inside and out.

A long gallery runs along the home, drawing natural light deep into the spaces and creating a quiet transition between the house and the landscape beyond.

A home designed not just to sit within this landscape, but to live slowly within it.

This home for Sentinel Homes 🏠 / Will and Lydia Batts balances light and dark with intention – white brick anchoring the street presence, offset by vertical black cladding that adds depth and rhythm. Gabled forms keep it familiar, while the detailing brings a more contemporary edge.

A considered mix of textures and a restrained palette creates a home that feels modern yet timeless.

This centrally located 3 bedroom Mount Maunganui beach townhouse sits on a compact site, just a stone’s throw from the beach. Our client wanted to make the most of their space by transforming the garage into a welcoming guest retreat.

Working within the constraints of the existing structure – including plumbing, laundry services, structural walls and pipework – the design was carefully resolved so everything feels intentional rather than compromised.

The result is an interior fit-out aligned with council requirements that maximises space and creates a comfortable, inviting place for guests to stay.
