Sometimes even small changes can produce great results.

One of our customers operates multiple busy retail locations that include trailer hire services with an online booking system. Phone enquiries weren't the most efficient way to help potential hirers so we added a simple auto-attendant message to their phone line directing callers to the booking website. This resulted in more bookings with fewer calls needing to be answered by busy staff.

Alchemy Networks has merged with Scott Communications. Welcome Melissa and Gareth.

Scott Comms have been established for over 10 years and service Taupo and central North Island businesses and local government with phone systems, internet and managed Wi-Fi, security systems, and more.

Scott Communications operates in and around the central North Island, providing services that include phone solutions, network infrastructure, security and access control, and Wi-Fi solutions.

Over the next few days when you call in you will notice that you:

*have choices to tell us what you are ringing for

*know were you are in the call queue

*have the chance to leave us a message (please do if you call is not urgent)

*will be followed up when we are not busy if we weren't able to answer your call when you rang.

We will be taking the next couple of weeks to refine the system once we have a better idea of how our call volumes flow.

A BIG THANK you to everyone in the Turangi community who has hung in there and supported us whilst we sorted out our phone issues.

Most organisations have good DR plans for recovering from events like disk or network failures but if phones are critical then it’s good to know that there are immediate, stand-by alternatives for voice too.

Last week a voice customer with 15 staff suffered a major internal network hardware failure that affected their internet access, email, internal network including their desk-phones, and more. It was going to take them a few hours to replace their failed hardware and get business back to normal. Even though their phone system is cloud-hosted, without internet access or an internal network, their desk-phones were dead.

They contacted us in a mild panic and we determined that all their key staff had smartphones and decent cellular data coverage. We directed them to download our softphone app and sent pre-configured QR codes to their private emails which staff could scan on their smartphones, instantly enlivening the app to behave as a normal business phone extension. With their phone system cloud-hosted including their IVR, they could make and receive phone calls normally while the rest of the business recovered.
