A big part of SIL has always been security. Not only “IT security” as a buzzword. Real doors, readers, and who gets into the building.

We are the New Zealand agent for PCSC Access Control Systems. That means local survey, supply, install, and support for serious access controllers and the LiNC management software that ties a site together. Not a catalogue link and a shrug.

In plain English, this is for sites that need:
• Proper access control with someone accountable in NZ
• Controllers and software that match the job, from tighter retrofit-style work through to multi-door sites
• A path that includes install and support, not overseas-only buying with nobody on the ground

Here is a quiet cost a lot of apartment and village sites still carry.

New tenant. Vehicle plate, phone entry, card or remote. Someone collects the details. Types them into a spreadsheet. Emails the security company or the person who “does the system.” Someone else types the same data again into the live access platform. Multiply that by every move-in, every vehicle change, every lost card.

We have seen that loop burn something like forty minutes a time once you count chasing missing fields and fixing typos. It does not sound dramatic until you add up a year of tenancies.

So we built a simpler path from that pain. Tenant gets a short link, submits their own details, manager approves, and the right data can feed the live access systems SIL already works with on site.

Less clipboard. Less re-typing. Clearer approval.

If you run a multi-tenant building or a hospitality site, you already know this one.

Someone cannot get online. Reception takes the call. IT gets the ticket. Half the time it is not really “the internet is down.” It is plans, access, guest Wi‑Fi, who is allowed on what, and a network that was never set up for how the place actually runs.

We have lived that mess on real apartment and hotel-style networks. It is one reason we are building practical tools for building and guest internet: so managers and the people who support them spend less time on the same tickets.

It is also why we treat site networking as more than a box on the doorstep. Gear does not arrive ready for your building. We design, supply, and load the full configuration. Firewall, routing, and the site settings that make it behave. Same standards we use on client sites and in our own infrastructure.

So what does SIL actually do?

In plain terms: business communications, security systems, Wi‑Fi and wireless, networking, and hosted IT for New Zealand SMEs. Plus the multi-tenant and hospitality sites that come with real-world mess, not brochure diagrams.

How we work has not really changed even as the tools have. Long-term relationships. Systems built for people who are not full-time IT experts. Tailored setups when off-the-shelf will not cut it. Same DNA since the mid-90s: electronics and security into networks, VOIP, hosted services, and on-site work.

What is new is where a lot of our extra energy is going.

We are building practical apps from problems we still hit in the field: building and guest internet admin, access credential chaos, membership and content ops (including what we are putting our own site on).
