Double Win for Wakefields Digital at Pride In Print 2025!

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that Wakefields Digital has taken out both the Publications Books and Print Finishing categories at the 2025 Pride In Print Awards for our work on Te Ara Hohou Rongo | The Path to Reconciliation.

This stunning large-format, hardback graphic novel tells the powerful story of the land beneath Taranaki Cathedral, through the voices of Ngāti Te Whiti. Bilingual and beautifully crafted, it’s designed for visitors and school groups at Te Whare Hononga.

Judges described it as a “lovely combination of new and old techniques” and praised the craftsmanship:

“Everything about it on the finishing side was just superb… This is one of those jobs that just hits you. It has that wow factor and we just could not find a fault.”

Creating this taonga required meticulous work across multiple print processes—inkjet, Indigo, and offset—to ensure perfect colour, alignment, and durability for public handling. Special touches included anti-graffiti laminate, hand binding, and stunning blue head and tail bands to complete the look.

A huge shoutout to our incredible team and to our partners Story Inc, Māui Studios, and Ngāti Te Whiti for bringing this kaupapa to life. And thanks to Pride In Print for this amazing recognition—it truly is an honour.

Ngāti Te Whiti chair Shelton Healey sums it up perfectly:

“It’s been well received by our hapū, project partners and the wider community. It’s already being used as a resource at wānanga and community gatherings, sparking meaningful kōrero. A big thank you to [the Wakefields Digital team] for the care and craftsmanship you put into this taonga.”

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that our collaboration with the amazing local photographer Stuart MacDonald has just won the 2024 Pride In Print Digital Process Award for the stunning 'Wellington Places' book. 📚

Working hand-in-hand with Stuart, we brought his captivating images of Wellington city to life in print, using a blend of creativity and advanced techniques. The result? A visual masterpiece that we’re so proud of!

This award means the world to us because it recognises Wakefields for producing some of the best digitally-printed work in the country this year. 🏆 With the intense scrutiny from the Pride In Print judges, we’re incredibly proud to have achieved this honour.
