A power loss issue has occurred in Auckland that is impacting our services, with both primary and backup sources affected. We'll post updates shortly. Most services are up, but may be slow.

Customers on Northpower Fibre in Waipu, Ruakaka and One Tree Point have no connection this morning. Apologies for the inconvenience - this is a Northpower Fibre issue. They are aware of it and working on it. We'll post updates here as they come available.

UPDATE: fibre services have now been restored. As always, if something's not right give us a call or message us.

Earlier post: There's a Northpower Fibre outage affecting over 2200 fibre customers (not just Uber customers) in Mangawhai from Estuary Cove Road along Molesworth Drive to Cullen Street and surrounding areas. Fibre cables were brought down by a high load. Estimated restoration time is 5pm this evening so it's going to be a long day without internet.

This is a good time to remind you that Uber has a backup wireless solution (only for our fibre customers) so you can still be connected if something like this happens again. Free install and setup, automatic/seamless failover if the fibre goes down, $29/month including GST. If your fibre connection is critical (thinking businesses here especially) this is your answer! Note, this is only for Uber customers on fibre and subject to wireless coverage. Call us on 09 4385472, message us here or email [email protected]

A solar storm is raging today (5 Nov) and could cause problems with electronic equipment, including wifi.

If you notice anything strange with your internet or it's feeling a bit "off" in the next few days, just turn off the power to ALL your Uber equipment - then - wait!!! for 30 seconds and turn it back on again.

With TVs, computers, phones and tablets, you'll want to make sure you actually power them off ("power"..."shutdown".... "turn off" ) rather than just putting them to sleep.

Once done, after turning them back on you should be back to normal. Doing this after a lightning storm too will likely resolve any weirdness. If not - message us here or call on 09 4385472 or 0508 BROADBAND.

Trouble with your Wi-Fi? It's probably not your internet speed - we’ve seen a lot of cases lately where routers have gotten tucked away underneath or behind something, so it's a good idea to check where your Wi-Fi router actually is!

Think of your Wi-Fi like a light bulb💡- the more open the space, the better it shines. A quick reposition could mean faster speeds, stronger signals, and fewer dropouts.

UPDATE: this issue is now resolved and all Mangawhai Fibre customers should be back online. If you continue to have issues please get in touch.

Some customers in Mangawhai on the Northpower Fibre network are still affected by a 'fibre cable vs digger' incident much earlier this morning which has taken out around 1400 customers in the area (no matter who their retail provider is). Northpower has let us know that at this stage they don't have an estimate for when the fault will be fixed, but we'll post updates here. Our rural wireless customers should not be impacted at all but as always, if you have any issues with your connection please get in touch with our friendly local helpdesk team.

Update: this has now been resolved so phone services should be back to normal. If you are still having issues then please call us on 09 4385472, message us here or email [email protected].

Our upstream phone provider 2talk is having issues this morning including one-way audio on calls and problems with calls to 0800 numbers. This is affecting Uber phone services. They are acutely aware of the problem and and have engineers working on a fix - we'll update you when we know more.
