Every backup agent that shows up in a user's dock or menu bar is already behind on its job.
Here's our take: backup software should never ask an end user for anything. No prompts, no pop-ups, no "click to allow." The moment a user has to interact with it, you've created a point of failure that has nothing to do with backup and everything to do with human behavior.
MSP admins on Addigy and Jamf say this constantly in their own words: they want software that deploys silently and "behaves like infrastructure." Not friendly. Not helpful. Invisible.
If your current backup tool still needs a user to grant a permission or click through a setup wizard, that's not a UX detail. That's a coverage gap waiting to happen.
Curious where people land on this: does your org give end users any visibility into their own backup at all?
