MODULE V (ACTIVITY NO.19)
Read the lectures on global demography and write a short position paper on these topics.

For much of human history, demographic patterns were reasonably stable; human populations grew slowly, and the age structures, birth rates, and death rates of populations changed only gradually. Epidemics and pandemics had huge effects on populations, but these effects were short-lived and had little bearing on long-term trends. In the past 50 years, however, this trend of long-term stability has given way to the biggest demographic upheaval in history, an upheaval that is still running its course. In the developed world, a sharp post-war rise in fertility was followed by an equally sharp fall. These changes in fertility transformed age structures through the creation of a ‘baby boom’ generation. The ageing of this generation and continued declines in fertility and old-age mortality are shifting the population balance in developed countries from young to old. In the meantime, the developing world has experienced a population explosion, the result of improved nutrition, public health infrastructure and medical care.Even if high fertility – the main underlying cause of rapid population growth – were to suddenly adjust to the long-run replacement level of 2.1 children per woman, humanity would continue to experience demographic change for some time. The rapid increase in the global population over the past few decades has resulted in large numbers of people of childbearing age. This creates ‘population momentum’, in which the populations of most countries, even those with falling birth rates, will grow for many years to come. This is particularly true of developing countries.Population changes have potentially huge implications for the pace and progress of economic development. For example, an increasing proportion of elderly may act as a drag on economic growth where smaller working populations must provide for a larger number of non-working dependents. Rising life expectancy can also bolster an economy by creating a greater incentive to save and to invest in education, thereby boosting the financial capital on which investors draw and the human capital that strengthens economies. Where a country has experienced a baby boom followed by a decline in fertility, the relative size of the workforce is increased. Countries that are able to absorb the baby boom generation into productive employment can experience a rapid increase in economic growth. Countries unable to take advantage of this opportunity run the risk of creating large, chronically underemployed and increasingly restive working-age populations.

LAKE SEBU,SOUTH COTABATO
Mindanao, the second biggest island of the Philippines, harbors some of the grandest waterfalls in the country. More than Maria Cristina and Tinago of Iligan, Tinuy-an of Bislig, or Asik-Asik of Cotabato, there are more scattered on its vast forest land including Seven Falls of Lake Sebu.Situated in highland town of South Cotabato, the Seven Falls is an amazing natural wonder in Barangay Lake Siloton of the municipality of Lake Sebu. It consists of seven waterfalls with strong water coming from the outflows of Lake Sebu, an important watershed in the region. The outflows goes to Lonon River and catches by the smaller Lake Siloton before cascading from Hikong Alo (first waterfalls) to Hikong Tonok (seventh waterfalls) and finally to Allah River. The first two waterfalls are the easily accessible among the seven – Waterfalls One or “Hikong Alo” is standing at 35 feet while Waterfalls Two or “Hikong Bente” is 70 feet tall. Getting up close to the other five (Hikong B’Lebel, Hikong Lowig, Hikong Ukol, Hikong K’Fo-I and Hikong Tonok) is quite an effort but they can be easily seen by riding the zipline that starts at Waterfalls One.
While the trip to Seven Falls of Lake Sebu can be done on a day if you are coming from General Santos City, there are accommodations in town for those who prefer to stay overnight. Among them are School of Living Traditions, Punta Isla Resort, Lemobung Lodge and Restaurant, Balben Family Cove, Estares Resort, Merl Garden Spring Resort, Tonez Farm Resort and Artacho Resort.

MODULE V (Activity No.17)
Picture Travel Blog- Take a selfie of your most memorable travel and write a blog on this unforgettable experience.

So, I got very busy these past months, everything’s been somewhat overwhelmingly fast ever since. Unfortunately, that causes the failure to make a blog post and capturing photos have been drawn to a halt temporarily, but it certainly hasn’t been forgotten. There’s a lot to learn and my curiosity is bubbling under the surface. Hopefully starting today I’m going to start posting randomness here on a regular basis at the very least….Sunrise at San Victor Island.Ok, this travel started at 4:30 in the morning. From Tagum City to Baganga, Davao Oriental. Still dark and the breeze is very cooled, I grab my camera with my 85mm lens and took a photo of the car’s side mirror from outside the window while the car is running.Stopover for a p*e break.Nature trip is the best to experience with family.First stop, the Aliwagwag Falls (Cateel). This place is absolutely worth visiting. The waterfall spreads out and runs freshly through the mountainside. It’s not steep and it’s not free falling, but broad and lots of water. The river makes small lagoons along the way where it’s safe to swim.of course, it is not a complete visit if there’s no photo. Finally, we made it to the San Victor Dock. My brother doing a peace sign when he notices me taking a random picture. By the way, a peace hand gesture is common here in the Philippines when taking a photo.

SAMAL ISLAND URAYA BEACH RESORT.
It’s already pitch-black when we manage to settle into the shoreline of Uraya Beach Resort. The mishap along the way deterred us to enjoy our first night at the beach because we’ve lost transition and almost got to Kaputian as no one among us really knew the way to Brgy. Jan Jose, Pena plata, samal island. My adventures in Samal Island has already taken me into numerous resorts that are oozing with scenic views and visual features although every beach offers the same charming view, it just never gets old for my wandering soul thirsty of vitamin sea.As the night prevailed, we settled ourselves under a huge talisay tree where we put our rented tables and chairs then started cooking for our dinner. We pitched our tents surrounding the tables giving a campsite vibe setting. The night is special to our friend Eddie as he is celebrating his 24th birthday with us at the beach.. Under the talisay tree.. With our friends he considered family.. And of course, with booze to enjoy our solidarity.

Dickies- the company has its roots in the small town of Bryan in Texas, where C.N. Williamson and E.E "Colonel" Dickie began their careers in the "vehicle and harness" business. Lacoste- it was founded in 1933 by Rene Lacoste with Andre Gillier, the owner and president of the largest French knitwear manufacturing firm at the time. Rene was nicknamed "The Crocodile" due to his tenacity on the tennis courts, during his tennis career. They began to produce the revolutionary tennis shirt Lacoste designed and worn on the tennis courts with the crocodile logo embroidered on the chest. Lacoste didn't just invent the polo shirt. Where does China & North Korea belong in the Global Divide? North Or South?

North Korea, country in East Asia. It occupies the northern portion of the Korean peninsula, which juts out from the Asian mainland between the East Sea (Sea of Japan) and the Yellow Sea; North Korea covers about 55 percent of the peninsula’s land area. The country is bordered by China and Russia to the north and by the Republic of Korea (South Korea) to the south. The national capital, P’yŏngyang, is a major industrial and transport centre near the west coast.
