𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐚 is representing Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology, the Philippines, Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines (QCSP) and the 𝐦𝐲.𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 as one of the Coordinators/Mentors for QC4SG Vietnam 2026 – The 2nd SEA Quantathon. ⚛️

The final flags have been captured as the Quantum Computing and Cybersecurity Hackathon 2026 Mindanao Leg officially names its victors. Huge congratulations to Geoffrey and Friends for claiming the championship title, followed by Olympus Protocol as 1st Runner Up and Cyb3r Kn1ght$ as 2nd Runner Up after an intense showcase of strategic problem-solving and cyber endurance. A massive thank you goes out to all the participating teams, mentors, and partners who brought their absolute best to the digital arena.

Both agencies emphasized the critical need for regional readiness, highlighting how hands-on hackathons bridge the gap between classroom learning and the demands of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

They underscored that strengthening the nation's innovation ecosystem relies entirely on proactive collaboration among academia, government, and industry. By aligning their efforts, CHED and DOST are paving critical pathways for the next generation of tech professionals and cybersecurity experts—inspiring local talents to push boundaries and drive a more globally competitive Philippines.

Phaneendra PVK, CEO of Garudayan Tech, led a session diving deep into Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) architecture and critical infrastructure protection. The discussion centered on the mechanics of operational technology (OT) and the vulnerabilities existing within modern industrial network architectures .She also shared insights about the Converged Purdue Model, providing attendees with a brief overview on how organizations must secure interconnected manufacturing layers against emerging digital threats.

DICT Region 11 Assistant Regional Director Aris Austria delivered a message of support during the Mindanao Leg of Quantum Computing and Cybersecurity Lecture Series and Hackathon. He emphasized the value of uniting over 200 registered participants across academia, government, and industry to cultivate widespread awareness and expand local knowledge. He challenged the region's tech talents to lead the way in building proactive, resilient security frameworks, reinforcing that local expertise is the primary driver behind the country's science, technology, and global digital competitiveness.

Jason Thomas, Director of Product Development at Quantum eMotion, joined the event via live video conference to deliver an impactful lecture series on "Building Quantum-Resilience Systems: Practical Steps Toward a Quantum-Safe Future." He emphasized the technical scope of the emerging "quantum threat" and the urgent need to address the baseline vulnerabilities found in current encryption standards.
