THROWBACK TUESDAY!

This was one of our successful projects last year.

"SELF-GENERATING LIBRARY ID CARD SYSTEM"

A system that automatically generates digital library ID cards with an integrated QR code scanner,

enabling seamless identification of registered students and serving as their digital gate pass.

Who do you think should be held responsible for the disinformation caused by AI-altered contents? đŸ€”đŸ€”

1. AI developers and companies?
â–ȘWhy They May Be Responsible:
-They design and deploy the algorithms and platforms capable of generating disinformation.
-If safeguards against misuse are inadequate, they may bear responsibility for the consequences.
â–ȘExample: An AI company releases a deepfake generator without restrictions, leading to its misuse in political propaganda.
â–ȘCounterargument: Developers might argue that they cannot control how users deploy their tools.

2. The Users? (those creating/spreading disinformation)
â–ȘWhy They May Be Responsible:
-Users directly misuse AI platforms to create and spread false or misleading content.
-Intentional use of AI for harmful purposes places accountability on the user.
â–ȘExample: A person using an AI text generator to create fake news or propaganda.
â–ȘCounterargument: If the platform enables easy misuse without guidance, it could share responsibility.

3. Regulators and Governments?
â–ȘWhy They May Be Responsible:
-Governments have the authority to regulate AI platforms, enforce transparency, and ensure ethical usage.
-Failure to implement or enforce adequate laws may contribute to unchecked misuse.
â–ȘExample: A country without AI regulations allows disinformation campaigns to thrive during elections.

4. The platforms hosting disinformation?
â–ȘWhy They May Be Responsible:
-Social media or content-sharing platforms amplify disinformation created by AI.
-These platforms may fail to moderate or remove harmful content effectively.
â–ȘExample: A platform failing to fact-check or flag AI-generated fake news.
â–ȘCounterargument: Platforms may argue they cannot police every piece of content without compromising free speech.

5. The society at large? (Shared responsibility)
â–ȘWhy Society Shares Responsibility:
-Educating people on media literacy and critical thinking can reduce the spread of disinformation.
-Individuals also have a duty to verify information before sharing it.
â–ȘExample: A user blindly shares an AI-generated hoax without fact-checking, contributing to its spread.

What do you think of this painting? or the artist? 🧐

An AI-generated painting of Alan Turing has sold for over $1 million at auction

A piece of artwork depicting Alan Turing, which was created by an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered robot, has sold at a Sotheby’s auction for over a million dollars.

This greatly exceeds the auction house’s expectations of $120,000 – $180,000 for the piece, which received 27 bids before being won for $1,084,800 (£836,667).

The painting, which is 64 by 90 inches, was created by Ai-Da, a humanoid, artificially intelligent, robot artist. This marks the first time a humanoid robot has seen a piece of artwork be sold at auction.

According to Sotheby’s, this historic sale “launches a new frontier in the global art market, establishing the auction benchmark for an artwork by a humanoid robot”, reports the BBC. The sale “marks a moment in the history of modern and contemporary art and reflects the growing intersection between A.I. technology and the global art market”.

The artwork, titled “AI God”, depicts Alan Turing, a World War 2 British codebreaker who was instrumental in deciphering the Enigma Machine at the UK’s Bletchley Park.

The robot’s creator, Aidan Meller, said in a statement to the press: “This auction is an important moment for the visual arts, where Ai-Da’s artwork brings focus on artworld and societal changes, as we grapple with the rising age of AI. The artwork “AI God” raises questions about agency, as AI gains more power.”

Meta’s Next Llama AI Models Are Training on a GPU Cluster ‘Bigger Than Anything’ Else.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg laid down the newest marker in generative AI training on Wednesday, saying that the next major release of the company’s Llama model is being trained on a cluster of GPUs that’s “bigger than anything” else that’s been reported.

Llama 4 development is well underway, Zuckerberg told investors and analysts on an earnings call, with an initial launch expected early next year. “We're training the Llama 4 models on a cluster that is bigger than 100,000 H100s, or bigger than anything that I've seen reported for what others are doing,” Zuckerberg said, referring to the Nvidia chips popular for training AI systems. “I expect that the smaller Llama 4 models will be ready first.”
