The 9800X3D won’t even save you from this.

A lot of people think a CPU upgrade automatically fixes low FPS.

Not always.

For this setup:
i5-9400F
GT 710
16GB RAM
Valorant only
₱8K–₱9K budget

You could spend money chasing a faster processor and still end up disappointed.

Why?

Because the biggest problem isn't always the CPU.

In this case, the GT 710 is doing far more damage to the overall experience than the i5-9400F.

Even one of the fastest gaming CPUs available can't magically overcome a severely limiting GPU.

That's why the smartest upgrade isn't always the most powerful part.

It's the part that's holding the system back the most.

With an ₱8K–₱9K budget, fixing the weakest link first can often deliver a much bigger improvement than jumping to a new platform.

Before buying a CPU, ask yourself:

What's actually limiting my performance right now?

Because sometimes the upgrade you want isn't the upgrade you need.

Send your CPU, GPU, monitor, main game, and budget if you want a quick upgrade check.

Don’t start your PC build from zero.

One of the hardest parts of building a PC is choosing where to start.

That is why starting with a CPU + motherboard bundle can make the process easier.

It gives the build a platform first.

From there, you can complete the rest based on your budget, use case, and upgrade path.

PC Builder helps you lay out the full build before buying, so it is easier to check if the parts make sense together.

Start with a bundle.
Complete the build.

A good-looking case can still run hot.

When choosing a PC case, looks matter. But airflow, clearance, and fan support matter too.

A case can look clean on the outside, but if the front panel is too restricted, the fans are poorly placed, or the parts barely fit inside, the build can run hotter and louder than expected.

Before choosing a case, check these first:

Airflow
Make sure the case has a proper path for intake and exhaust. A good balance of front intake and rear/top exhaust helps move heat out of the system.

Clearance
Check GPU length, CPU cooler height, and radiator support before buying. A part can be compatible on paper but still be difficult to fit in the actual case.

Fan support
Look at where fans can be mounted. Front intake, rear exhaust, and top exhaust can make a big difference in how the build handles heat.

The goal is not to buy the biggest or most expensive case.

The goal is to choose a case that fits your parts, supports proper airflow, and gives your build enough room to breathe.

Looks matter.

Airflow still matters more.

Do you really need an AIO?

Not always.

AIO coolers look clean and can make sense for higher-heat CPUs, tighter visual builds, or cases with good radiator support.

But that does not mean every PC needs one.

For many gaming builds, a good air cooler can still be practical. It is usually simpler, more affordable, and easier to maintain.

The better question is not:

“Air cooler or AIO?”

The better question is:

“What cooler makes sense for my CPU, case, airflow, and budget?”

Simple guide:

Air cooler
Good if you want something simple, practical, and cost-efficient.

AIO cooler
Good if your CPU produces more heat, your case supports the radiator properly, or you want a cleaner build look.

Check first:
CPU heat output
Case cooler clearance
Radiator support
Airflow
Budget

Cooling is not just about looks.

It helps keep the build stable, especially when the CPU is under load.

Just avoid treating an AIO as an automatic upgrade. If the CPU does not need it, that money might be better spent on the GPU, PSU, SSD, or a better case.

Not all storage choices are equal.

For a modern gaming PC, the first rule is simple:

Use an SSD.

After that, the real question becomes capacity, generation, and reliability.

Capacity matters because games, Windows, updates, and apps can fill up storage faster than expected. For many builds, 1TB is a practical starting point. If the budget allows, 2TB gives more breathing room.

For speed, PCIe Gen 4 is usually the cleaner target right now if the budget allows it. It gives strong performance without jumping into the higher cost of Gen 5.

PCIe Gen 3 can still be a viable option for tighter-budget gaming builds, especially if the goal is to save money without going back to slower storage.

PCIe Gen 5 should only be considered if you actually need it, like for heavier productivity work, large file transfers, or specific workloads that can benefit from the extra speed. For most gaming builds, it is usually not the first place I would spend extra.

Reliability also matters.

There are many SSD brands available now, including newer or less familiar names. That does not automatically make them bad, but it does mean you should check reviews, warranty, and real buyer feedback before choosing.

Simple guide:

SSD first.
Capacity second.
Gen 4 if budget allows.
Gen 5 only if your workload needs it.
Check reliability before buying unknown models.

RAM is not just about capacity.

A lot of buyers only ask, “16GB or 32GB?”

That matters, but it is not the whole decision.

You also need to check the platform, speed, and latency.

For basic gaming, 16GB can still work. But some newer AAA games, background apps, Discord, Chrome, streaming, and heavier workloads can make 16GB feel limiting.

For many modern gaming builds, 32GB is the cleaner target because it gives your system more breathing room.

But there is a tradeoff.

RAM prices can take a bigger part of the budget, so you still need to ask how much memory your build actually needs right now.

Simple guide:
Capacity
16GB can work. 32GB gives more room.

Speed
Higher is generally better, but it should match your platform. Common targets are DDR4 3200MHz or DDR5 6000MHz.

Latency
Lower is generally better. For example, DDR4 3200 Mhz CL16 or DDR5 around 6000 Mhz CL30 (ideal) to CL38 can be practical depending on the build and price.

If you are building AM5, DDR5 is required.

If you are staying on DDR4, a RAM upgrade can still make sense if the rest of your build is still worth keeping.

The goal is not to buy the most expensive RAM.

The goal is to buy RAM that fits your platform, budget, and actual use case.
