The MX-20Mk2 delivers a substantial performance upgrade compared to the original design, with upgrades to the LCR and Subwoofer modules.

Let's take a look at the LCR module upgrades:

The original 10 inch drive in the MX-20 Mk1 is replaced with a 12 inch driver in the MX-20 Mk2. The MX20-Mk2 12 inch driver has a bigger 2.5 inch voice coil that delivers higher output and lower distortion than the original 10 inch driver.

A patented Krix constant directivity waveguide with a one inch compression driver replaces the original doped fabric, dome tweeter and waveguide delivering controlled dispersion, precise high frequency detail, and improved dynamics.

The power handling is increased from 500W to 700W due to the improved 12 inch driver and provides for greater headroom and therefore, more clarity.

Now lets look at the Subwoofer module upgrade;

This new design allows the subwoofer to be oriented up or down. Added to the new design is dual terminals to make any configuration easier to install.

Post-Production
This is a bonus for professional installations where the subwoofers can be positioned to the optimum monitoring height ensuring a clear and precise bass performance in the critical 25Hz to 80Hz range.

Home Cinema
For the serious home cinema this means the bass performance can be positioned to suit any well deigned room, providing an excellent monitoring environment. Listen to movies as the director intended.

A Design Idea for the Krix LX-7 Passive Soundbar

At CDA Pro AV, we not only supply equipment and the best advice, we provide design concepts for your media room.

This Krix LX-7 media room concept features a custom designed cabinet that is available in a wide range of finishes including paint, real timber veneer and real timber. The front doors are covered in acoustically transparent fabric that also provides an air flow for the electronics that are housed behind the middle doors. Good ventilation is essential for the electronics.

The cabinet can be supplied with or without drawers. The drawers can be a two, three or four drawers. The cabinet can be squared edged as shown here, a cornice can be added to the top of the cabinet or the cabinet can be designed with rounded edges. CDA will help you design the cabinet to suit your individual style and decor.

Behind the far left and far right doors in where the subwoofers are housed. The subwoofers are specifically designed for CDA by Krix Loudspeakers in Australia. These subwoofers are high performance and will satisfy any listener with an all encompassing bass without the "woofiness" or distortion found in other subwoofer designs.

The system featured here uses the Yamaha RX-A4A Surround Receiver for the Left, Centre and Right speakers (LCR), and the A4A powers the surround and Atmos™ speakers. The subwoofers are powered by the CDA designed, SubDynamics power amplifier that provides an effortless 450W per channel to the Subwoofers. The SubDynamics amplifier has in-built DSP (Digital Signal Processing) that is used to tune the subwoofers to your cabinet and room.

The Krix LX-7 Soundbar in action with the new Krix S3P Passive Subwoofers being driven by the CDA engineered SubDynamics 650W per channel, Class D amplifier with DSP.

The cabinet is designed to house two S3P subwoofers and to house the AVR, and the SubDynamics Amplifier. The cabling is in channels at the rear of the cabinet making this a very neat and tidy installation that sounds awesome.

The cabinet can be designed to suit your decor with a number of different finishes available including matt paint, gloss paint, and real timber veneer. The cabinet can be made from real timber. The number of draws in the cabinet is optional.

This approach allows for a first class Home Theatre system to be installed in your media room while matching the decor of your home.

The entire system in the video was designed and built by the team at CDA Pro AV. The cabinet was designed by Rick Dowel.
