“Only One Life, So Soon It Will Pass”
We are given only one life, and time passes quickly. Chasing our goals, fulfilling our dreams, and serving other people can bring purpose and leave a meaningful legacy. However, if these pursuits constantly take priority over our own family, they may come with significant consequences.
A person who is always focused on work, ministry, business, or helping others may unintentionally neglect the people closest to them. Family members may feel unimportant, emotionally distant, or abandoned. Important milestones may be missed, communication may weaken, and relationships may slowly lose their warmth. Children may grow up longing for their parent’s presence, while a spouse may feel unsupported despite understanding the good intentions behind the service.
At the same time, when goals and service are balanced with family responsibilities, the family becomes stronger rather than weaker. Loved ones can become partners in the mission, sharing the same values of compassion, sacrifice, and purpose. The greatest service to others should never come at the complete expense of those entrusted to our care.
The challenge is not choosing between serving others and loving our family—it is learning to do both faithfully. Success is not measured only by the number of lives we touch outside our home, but also by the love, time, and care we give to the people who know us best.
