3 Numbers Every Business Owner Should Check Every Month

Most entrepreneurs only look at sales.

The problem? Sales alone don't tell you if you're making money.

Here are the 3 numbers you should monitor every month:

1️⃣ Profit – Are you actually earning?
2️⃣ Cash Balance – Do you have enough cash to operate?
3️⃣ Expenses – Where is your money really going?

👉 If you don't know these three numbers, you're running your business on guesswork.

5 Business Registration Errors New Entrepreneurs Often Make

Starting a business is exciting—but simple registration mistakes can lead to delays, penalties, or unnecessary costs.

1. Registering the Wrong Business Structure

Choosing the wrong legal structure (sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation) can affect your taxes, liability, and future growth.

2. Registering With the Wrong Tax Type

Many business owners don't fully understand whether they should be VAT or Non-VAT registered, which can impact their tax obligations.

3. Operating Before Completing Registration

Some entrepreneurs start selling before securing the necessary registrations and permits, which may lead to compliance issues.

4. Ignoring Local Government Permits

Business registration doesn't end with national agencies. Depending on your business, you'll also need the required local permits and clearances.

5. Not Keeping Proper Records From Day One

Many businesses focus on registration but neglect bookkeeping. Keeping organized records from the start makes tax compliance and business management much easier.

Bottom line: Proper business registration is more than just getting a certificate—it's about setting your business up for long-term compliance and growth.

❓VAT o Non-VAT? Alin ang Mas Makakatipid sa Negosyo Mo?

Depende.

✅ Expenses at purchases mo
✅ Long-term business goals mo

Maling tax classification can cost you more than the taxes you're trying to save.

Choose based on strategy—not assumptions.

6 Reasons Business Owners Should Never Ignore Bookkeeping

Many business owners focus on increasing sales but overlook one of the most important parts of running a business—bookkeeping.

Here are six reasons why proper bookkeeping is essential:

1. Know if you're truly making a profit.
High sales don't always mean high profits. Bookkeeping shows where your money is actually going.

2. Make smarter business decisions.
Accurate records help you identify your best-selling products, control expenses, and plan for growth.

3. Stay compliant with BIR requirements.
Proper bookkeeping makes tax filing easier and helps reduce the risk of penalties and compliance issues.

4. Monitor your cash flow.
A profitable business can still run out of cash. Bookkeeping helps you track money coming in and going out.

5. Build trust with banks and investors.
Well-maintained financial records make it easier to secure loans, attract investors, or expand your business.

6. Protect your business from costly mistakes.
Organized records help detect errors, prevent fraud, and avoid financial surprises before they become major problems.

Bookkeeping isn't just about recording transactions. It's about giving you the financial information you need to make better decisions and build a stronger business.
