At the moment, the repair is focused on extensive corrosion found underneath the VRAM area, along with a suspected micro-crack on the GPU die.
Initially, the fault appeared to be isolated to the GPU core. After replacing the GPU core with a known-good chip, the card was able to display an image, but the output was severely corrupted/artifacted.
Further diagnosis was performed using MATS/MODS memory testing, which identified corruption affecting the following memory channels:
B0 • B1 • C0 • C1
The findings indicate that the issue is not limited to the original GPU core. The corrosion beneath the VRAM and the suspected GPU die micro-crack are being investigated as possible contributing factors.
Current status: Under board-level diagnosis and repair.
