A lot of projects slow down for the same reason:

They focus on visuals too early.

It feels like progress, but without solid systems underneath, it often leads to performance issues, rework, and limited flexibility later on.

Learned this the hard way in earlier development.

A better approach is to build the foundation first:
– core mechanics
– gameplay loop
– system behavior

Then layer visuals on top of something that already works.

It might not look impressive early on, but it holds up much better as the project grows.

This slowed me down more than any bug.

I didn’t get stuck because of coding…
I got stuck because I couldn’t decide how things should *look*.

While working on my tycoon game, I reached a point where I needed to show resources in-game.

Simple problem, right?

Not really.

My system uses real units (kg), and suddenly I found myself overthinking everything:

Should I create detailed assets?
Should I just show numbers?
Should it feel realistic or game-like?

No bugs. No crashes.
Just… stuck.

At some point, I realized I was delaying real progress for something that doesn’t even matter *right now*.

So I made a call:
Forget visuals (for now).

I’m using simple placeholder blocks and focusing on getting the systems working.

Not pretty. But moving forward.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t building…
It’s knowing when to stop thinking and just continue.

Has something small ever completely slowed you down like this?

Something I’ve been realizing while building systems:

Moving fast at the start can actually create problems later.

When everything is connected just to make things work quickly, it feels great in the beginning.

But over time, even small changes become harder to handle.

Lately I’ve been slowing down a bit and keeping things more structured from the start.

It feels different, but much easier to manage as things grow.

Have you experienced this while building something?

Something I realized while building this system:

It’s not the complexity that makes things hard, it’s how everything is connected.

At first it felt simple, but as more parts started interacting, even small changes became harder to manage.

So I started keeping things more separated, giving each part a clear role.

It already feels much easier to work with.

Do you think structure matters early on, or only when things start growing?

One thing I realized while working on this system:

The more everything is connected, the harder it becomes to manage.

At first it looked simple, but as different parts started interacting, things became more complex than expected.

So I started keeping things a bit more separated, letting each part handle its own responsibility.

It’s still early, but it already feels easier to work with.

Have you ever faced something like this while building something?

Small but important progress on Chips Tycoon.

Earlier everything was running in a single test scene, which made the game feel like it was resetting all the time.

Now it has a proper flow:
Lender → get starting money
Market → buy items, containers, and resources

Also made all core systems persist across scenes:
Money, inventory, storage, and capacity now carry over properly.

Cleaned up interactions so each object handles its own logic instead of everything being tied to the player.

Still working with simple cubes for now, focusing on getting the systems right before visuals.

There’s a lot more that could be built quickly, but I’m deliberately taking it step by step to keep things clear and scalable.

Next step is the actual gameplay loop where customers place orders and the player prepares them.

A major system milestone has been completed for our upcoming tycoon game.

What started as a simple idea, buying ingredients and cooking fries, quickly turned into a deeper system design challenge.

This phase focused on building the foundation:

Resource storage
Container-based capacity
Purchase validation
Separation between items and resources

These systems now work together and will support future gameplay features.

Still early in development, but this foundation is critical before moving forward.

Sharing a visual overview of how everything connects together.

How do you usually approach building systems, plan everything early or evolve as you go !!!

Been away for a bit, finally back to working on my game again.

Ran into an interesting problem while building a resource storage system.

Needed something that is fast, easy to manage, and scalable as things grow.

Now stuck on this decision:

Which approach would you pick?

1. Dictionary
2. List
3. Both combined
4. Index mapping

Would love to hear your thoughts 🤔

Eid Mubarak.

But today, this greeting feels heavy.

While many of us gather with our families, wear new clothes, and share smiles, there are Muslims around the world who are not celebrating, not because they choose not to, but because they cannot.

They have been displaced from their homes.

They have lost their safety, their loved ones, their sense of belonging, simply because they are Muslims.

For them, Eid is not a day of joy.
It is a reminder of what has been taken away.

This forces us to ask a difficult question:
Can we truly call it Eid for the Ummah, when parts of the Ummah are in pain?

Eid is not just celebration.
It is unity.
It is standing with those who are suffering.
It is remembering that their pain is not separate from us.

As we celebrate, may we not become distant from their reality.

May we carry them in our prayers, our hearts, and our actions.

Eid Mubarak, and may Allah bring justice, safety, and dignity to those who need it the most.
