Cybersecurity research firm Cyber Ventures predicts that cybercrimes will cost the world $10.5 trillion by 2025. According to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), “the potential costs and damage that can stem from a cybersecurity incident are extensive. Many smaller companies have been targets of cybersecurity attacks so severe that the companies have gone out of business as a result.”

Investing in cybersecurity costs money, but failing to invest in it costs more. Governments and the private sector must work together here.
