An 11-year-old girl from Kerala, Leena Rafeeq, has created an application based on artificial intelligence (AI) to detect eye diseases and other conditions through a unique scanning method using an iPhone. Ms Rafeeq has named the application as 'Ogler EyeScan' and developed it at the age of 10.

She took to LinkedIn to explain how her application works along with a video demonstration. She said that her application can analyse various parametres like light and colour intensity, distance and look-up points to locate the eyes within the range of the frame using "advanced computer vision and machine learning". "It also identifies any light burst issues and if the eyes are positioned exactly inside the scanner frame," she added.

After the scan is taken appropriately, trained models are used to diagnose potential eye diseases or conditions like Arcus, Melanoma, Pterygium and Cataracts. Ms Rafeeq said, "This App was developed natively with SwiftUI without any third-party libraries or packages, and it took me six months of research and development to bring this innovative app to life."

Twitter has blocked the Pakistan government's account from being viewed in India in response to a legal demand, according to a notice on the social media platform on Thursday.

The company's guidelines compel it to withhold entire accounts in response to a valid legal demand, such as a court order.

The account, , remained available for viewing and interaction from countries such as the United States and Canada, Reuters checks showed.

Twitter as well as India and Pakistan's IT ministries did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

Elon Musk took a dig at Bill Gates and his understanding of AI in a tweet on Monday.
"I remember the early meetings with Gates," Musk tweeted. "His understanding of AI was limited. Still is."

Musk sent the tweet in response to another Twitter user's post about Gates' involvement in OpenAI and his overall bullish attitude towards AI.
In a blog post published last week, Gates wrote about how AI could transform the workforce, healthcare, and education.

A Twitter user claimed that the AI chatbot ChatGPT has saved his dog’s life by accurately diagnosing a blood condition veterinarians were unable to identify.

The user, who goes by the name Cooper on Twitter under the username , stated that his dog named Sassy was diagnosed with a tick-borne disease, but that the symptoms worsened despite taking the prescribed treatment.ChatGPT

“ saved my dog’s life. After my dog got diagnosed with a tick-borne disease, the vet started her on the proper treatment, and despite serious anaemia, her condition seemed to be improving relatively well. After a few days, however, things took a turn for the worse,” Cooper wrote in his Twitter post.

“I noticed her gums were very pale, so we rushed back to the vet. The blood test revealed an even more severe anaemia, even worse than the first day we came in. The vet ran more tests to rule out any other co-infections associated with tick-borne diseases, but came up negative,” he added.

Cooper then took his dog back to the vet, but they were unable to provide a further diagnosis and advised him to simply wait and see how the dog’s condition progressed.
“At this point, the dog’s condition was getting worse and worse, and the vet had no clue what it could be. They suggested we wait and see what happens, which wasn’t an acceptable answer to me, so we rushed to another clinic to get a second opinion”.

Video conferencing platform Zoom has announced its partnership with OpenAI, creator of the AI chatbot ChatGPT, to bring new AI-powered features to Zoom. It includes organizing ideas, drafting content for chats, creating meeting agendas, Assistant Zoom IQ and more. Zoom has become the most effective app for increasing the use of AI.

According to the company, the new features of Zoom IQ will bring convenience to users. For example, if a team member joins their Zoom meeting late, they can ask Zoom IQ to summarize what they missed in real time and ask more questions. Additionally, if users need to create a whiteboard session for their meeting, ZoomIQ can generate it based on text prompts.

Sometimes during a Zoom meeting you may need to leave for a minute and when you come back you have a long list of messages that need to be read. In such a case, this work can also be done with the help of AI.

Some parts of Twitter's source code — the fundamental computer code on which the social network runs — were leaked online, the social media company said in a legal filing on Sunday that was first reported by The New York Times.

According to the legal document, filed with the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California, Twitter had asked GitHub, an internet hosting service for software development, to take down the code where it was posted. The platform complied and said the content had been disabled, according to the filing. Twitter also asked the court to identify the alleged infringer or infringers who posted Twitter's source code on systems operated by GitHub without Twitter's authorization.

Twitter, based in San Francisco, noted in the filing that the postings infringe copyrights held by Twitter.

The leak creates more challenges for billionaire Elon Musk, who bought Twitter last October for $44 billion and took the company private. Since then, it has been engulfed in chaos, with massive layoffs and advertisers fleeing.

WhatsApp has made the process of device linking easier for its users. The platform, which is owned by Meta, announced on Thursday that it has launched a new app designed specifically for Windows. The new WhatsApp app for Windows desktop is similar to the mobile app and is said to offer a faster and seamless experience for using the app across multiple devices.

WhatsApp has also announced that users can now link their WhatsApp account to up to four devices, ensuring that their chats remain synced, encrypted, and accessible even when their phone is offline. After updating the WhatsApp app on their Windows desktop, users will have access to new features, including video and voice calling options and device linking for almost all devices.

In its latest tweet, WhatsApp stated, "No charger, no problem. Now you can link WhatsApp to up to four devices so your chats stay synced, encrypted, and accessible even after your phone goes offline."

Researchers at the University of Michigan just created the world’s smallest computer (again). Their previous micro-computer, the Michigan Micro Mote, measured 2x2x4mm. It was a complete, functioning system powered by solar cell batteries. But in March this year, IBM announced a new, smaller computer, which measured 1x1 mm, and was smaller than a grain of salt. It “raised a few eyebrows at the University of Michigan.”

After all, it's unclear if the IBM computer even count as an actual microcomputer. The IBM device lost all its programming and data as soon as it turns off, unlike the Michigan Micro Mote, which retained its programming even when it wasn’t externally powered. “It’s more of a matter of opinion whether they have the minimum functionality required,” said David Blaauw, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at University of Michigan who helped develop the University of Michigan's newest tiny device. If the IBM machine constituted a computer, then University of Michigan would work to gain back their title: their latest microdevice measures 0.3mm per side (1/10th the size of IBM’s computer), and is smaller than a grain of rice.

The device was designed to be a precision temperature sensor that can report temperatures in clusters of cells with an error of about 0.1 degrees Celsius. “When we first made our millimeter system, we actually didn’t know exactly all the things it would be useful for. But once we published it, we started receiving dozens and dozens and dozens of inquiries,” Blaauw said. It could, for instance, measure the temperature of tumors and conduct other cancer studies, monitor oil reservoirs, conduct audio or visual surveillance, or help in “tiny snail studies.”
