BREAKING: At least 290,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since fighting intensified again in August, according to the United Nations humanitarian office.

The renewed conflict between forces loyal to Yemen's internationally recognised government and Houthi rebels has intensified, particularly in Taiz governorate and coastal areas.

The humanitarian consequences are becoming increasingly severe. An estimated 65,000 refugees and asylum seekers are facing deteriorating conditions, with rising food and fuel prices.

Among the displaced are approximately 6,100 pregnant women, including 600 expected to give birth within two weeks.

The figures highlight the growing humanitarian cost of Yemen's renewed conflict.

BREAKING: G20 foreign ministers have concluded two days of discussions in Atlanta without reaching consensus on several major international security issues.

Instead of issuing a joint communique, the meeting concluded with a statement from the chair outlining shared priorities, including energy security, food supplies, freedom of navigation and secure supply chains.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged that universally accepted solutions remained difficult to achieve.

Disagreements over Russia's war in Ukraine, the US-Israel war involving Iran, American tariffs and China's actions in the South China Sea shaped the discussions.

The meeting highlights the growing divisions between major world powers at a time of heightened international uncertainty.

BREAKING: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described Washington's latest attempt to open dialogue as a positive step, while confirming that an Iranian delegation is in Qatar for further consultations.

Araghchi said Tehran had studied a letter sent by US Vice President JD Vance. The diplomatic communication comes as Qatar continues facilitating discussions between Washington and Tehran.

However, major disagreements remain over sanctions, Iran's nuclear programme and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The diplomatic opening comes alongside renewed military warnings from both sides, leaving the region facing an uncertain path.

Could this be the beginning of a breakthrough between Washington and Tehran?

BREAKING: Iran's Supreme Leader has warned that any US or Israeli threat could trigger an immediate response without geographical limits, as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent another major regional confrontation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says a proposal has emerged that could fully reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz within two days.

However, Tehran says reopening the waterway depends on Washington accepting its conditions. These include lifting restrictions on Iranian ports and addressing outstanding financial and economic demands.

Iranian security officials have also indicated that ships would follow a route agreed with Oman under Iranian management.

Saudi and Egyptian officials are urging restraint, warning that renewed fighting could have devastating consequences.

The Strait of Hormuz remains central to global energy security and international shipping.

Could a diplomatic agreement reopen the world's most important oil shipping route?

BREAKING: A new Associated Press investigation has revealed the scale of damage caused by Iranian and Iran-backed attacks on American military installations across the Middle East.

According to AP's analysis of satellite imagery and interviews with regional officials, more than 115 drone and missile strikes damaged or destroyed structures at 26 US military bases and other sites through August.

The attacks initially focused on early-warning radar and air-defence systems before expanding to aircraft hangars, fuel facilities, warehouses, communications equipment and troop accommodation.

Kuwait experienced particularly heavy damage, with Ali Al Salem Air Base struck at least 30 times. Six American soldiers were killed in a separate March attack at Port Shuaiba.

The findings raise serious questions about the vulnerability of fixed American military installations if fighting resumes.

How prepared are US bases for another wave of attacks?

BREAKING: Iranian negotiators have held fresh talks with Qatari mediators in Doha as diplomatic efforts intensify to prevent another major escalation in the Gulf.

The discussions followed more than 12 hours of talks between Iranian and Qatari representatives in Tehran. Qatar is reportedly proposing a seven-day confidence-building plan designed to create conditions for broader peace negotiations.

However, Tehran has not accepted the proposal as presented. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says President Trump has not decided whether to launch further strikes against Iran, although Washington still prefers a diplomatic solution.

With the November 3 US midterm elections approaching, the next few days could prove critical for regional stability.

Will diplomacy succeed before tensions escalate again?

BREAKING: Iran calls Washington's latest diplomatic outreach a positive step, but refuses immediate direct talks with the United States.

With Qatar and Pakistan continuing mediation, the future of the Strait of Hormuz and regional security remains uncertain.

Could diplomacy prevent another major confrontation?
