🌏💔 Have you ever wondered what would happen if all were to disappear? 😢🌊

➡ It would have catastrophic consequences, both on land and underwater.
➡ It would impact the biodiversity of life in the ocean and the whole marine ecosystem.
➡ It would also be a humanitarian crisis, with millions of people, whose lives and livelihoods depend on the reefs, at risk of hunger, poverty, and in danger from storms.

⏰🔴 If we do nothing, more than 90% of all coral reefs might die by 2050. And yet, even though the stats are frightening, not all is lost.

As we learn more and more about the reefs, we can create solutions to increase their resistance to external stressors and support their recovery.

💪🌟And this is where comes in! 💡📊

📲🔬 With the Micronesia Reef Monitoring App, scientists and conservationists can easily collect and analyze data about coral health and biodiversity. 📈🌿

This information is crucial for understanding the current state of our reefs and implementing effective strategies to preserve and restore them. It also helps identify patterns, detect early warning signs of reef degradation, and even predict potential threats to coral ecosystems.

By doing so, we can take timely action to protect these vital habitats!

🌊💻 Scientists predict even up to 90% of coral reefs might die by 2050 😔 But there is still time to act! And as it turns out, data science has a role to play! 📊💪

We have recently teamed up with the University of Guam Marine Lab to develop a Micronesia Reef Monitoring App. 🌍📲

The project aims to leverage the power of data analytics and community engagement to help local stakeholders actively participate in preserving and safeguarding their coral reef. 🐠

The app displays complex sets of data in an easy-to-understand way. It provides impactful data visualization about the number and types of fish which inhabit certain sites, changes over time, and comparisons with other locations. 📈🐟

This way, local conservationists can better understand coral reef needs, assess their health, track progress, and effectively manage conservation efforts. 💙🌿

IMPACT: The app has already made an impact by allowing the local community members to take swift corrective action against illegal fishing activities.

WHY IT MATTERS?
The complete disappearance of coral reefs would have catastrophic consequences, both on land and underwater. It would impact the biodiversity of life in the ocean and the whole marine ecosystem. It would also be a humanitarian crisis, with millions of people, whose lives and livelihoods depend on the reefs, at risk of hunger, poverty, and in danger from storms.

🫡“If you are a person, who needs to solve a lot of problems in your work, you need to "consume" a lot of information. This is where the growth comes from.
Book a couple of slots in your calendar just for input and save all the articles to read for that time. I do it by using groups in my Chrome”.
