We’re delighted to announce that Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commission for Startups, Research and Innovation, will join the CEE AI Summit as a keynote speaker.

At a defining moment for Europe’s technological future, Commissioner Zaharieva is leading efforts to strengthen the continent’s innovation ecosystem, empower startups, and accelerate the adoption of research and cutting-edge technologies.

Central and Eastern Europe has world-class engineering talent and a strong technical foundation, but how do we translate that into global leadership in AI?

Where can CEE build a genuine competitive advantage? How can the EU help unlock the region’s full potential? And how do we ensure there is real demand across Europe for AI startups and scaleups from our region?

These are some of the key questions we’ll explore together at the on 3 September in Prague.

The headlines around the Bartz v. Anthropic settlement have led many to believe that the court ruled AI training on copyrighted works is illegal. At first glance, the final $1.5 billion settlement might indeed seem to confirm that using copyrighted works to train AI is unlawful.

But that is not what the case was about.

The settlement resolved claims arising from Anthropic's use of approximately 500,000 pirated books. It did not overturn the court's earlier finding that training AI models on lawfully acquired books can qualify as fair use. Instead, it reinforces an important distinction between the legality of how training data is acquired and the legality of training AI models itself.

This distinction has significant implications for the future of AI copyright litigation. The debate is no longer simply whether AI training is lawful, but under what conditions, with what data, and where the boundaries of copyright protection should be drawn.

In our latest AI Chamber CEE political statement, we explain why the Bartz settlement should not be misunderstood as a rejection of fair use for AI training, what the court actually decided, and what this means for developers, creators, and policymakers.

👉 AI Chamber has been appointed to the European AI Act Advisory Forum by the European Commission.

We have been selected as a member of the Act Advisory Forum at the European AI Office, becoming one of only 18 entities from the region represented in the Forum, together accounting for just over 10% of its total membership.

This appointment is an important milestone not only for our organization, but also for the broader Central and Eastern European AI ecosystem. As part of the Advisory Forum, we will contribute our expertise to support the implementation of the EU AI Act, helping ensure that innovation, competitiveness, and trustworthy AI development remain at the heart of Europe's AI future.

We are proud to help strengthen the voice of the CEE region in shaping Europe's AI landscape, while recognising that there is still significant work ahead to further connect, support, and activate the region's AI community.

Unleash the Debate: Will AI consume the planet? ⚡

Our Oxford-style debate brought together two perspectives on one of the most important questions of our time: the environmental impact of AI.

And the audience verdict❓
Almost perfectly 50/50.

Not a coincidence - but a signal.
A signal that we are still collectively forming a shared understanding of AI, energy, and sustainability.

The room was full of energy, strong opinions, sharp questions, and real-time rebuttals. Fast-paced arguments, ad vocem interventions, and a level of engagement that made this format truly come alive.

Most importantly - an exceptional group of panelists who brought clarity, depth, and character to the discussion:

PROPOSITION:
Antoni Wisniewski (COO, Solutionspace)
Weronika Czaplewska (COO, Quantifier AI)
Joanna Andryszczak (Blue Amber Strategy Consultants / Coffideas)

OPPOSITION:
Magdalena Wojtas (CEO, Syncretix)
Maciej Zaleski (Founder & CEO, go2ops)
Adam Sobczak (CEO, Pricer)

Moderation: Marcin Olender

A huge thank you to all of you for preparation, energy, and the quality of argumentation - this was exactly the level of discussion we hoped for.

Special thanks to our host Allegro, for providing not only an outstanding venue, but also great support and hospitality throughout the event. It made a real difference.

This debate was a side event of the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2026, and it perfectly captured what this broader conversation is about: questioning assumptions, confronting data with narratives, and creating space for real dialogue.

More to come.

🚀 Can CEE become the next AI powerhouse? We are convinced it can.

The region has world-class talent, a deep engineering culture, and a growing community of founders and innovators. What's been missing is alignment - bold, coordinated action and a stronger collective voice.

That's exactly what we're here to build. Together with the Czech National AI Platform (CNAIP), we are proud to announce the CEE AI Summit 2026 taking place on 3 September 2026 in Prague.

The hashtag 2026 brings together ministers, EU policymakers, including Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva, industry leaders and researchers to tackle the region's most pressing challenges around AI infrastructure, data access, talent retention, and regulatory barriers - issues that directly shape the environment in which businesses operate and scale.

Running in parallel, a high-level ministerial meeting hosted by the Czech Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček will work toward a joint CEE AI declaration on regional cooperation. Signaling a coordinated political commitment that could translate into concrete policy shifts and cross-border opportunities for businesses across the region.

What to expect:
➖ High-level dialogues with CEE Digital Ministers and EU representatives
➖ Data-driven insights from industry leaders.
➖ Real-world case studies on AI impact.
➖ Unrivaled networking with the architects of our digital economy.

The event is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

🚀 Today, we are proud to launch the CEE AI Index 2026 - the first comprehensive benchmark of AI readiness across Central and Eastern Europe.

Developed by AI Chamber CEE in partnership with The Recursive and Europe Cloud, the Index evaluates 11 countries across governance, infrastructure, talent, funding, research, and AI adoption using 33 indicators and 363 data points.

The results reveal a region that is more AI-ready than many assume, but also one that is beginning to split into distinct trajectories.

Which countries are emerging as leaders? What factors are driving AI readiness? And where are the biggest opportunities for policymakers, investors, and ecosystem builders?

Over the coming days, we'll be sharing key findings from the research.

For now, we invite you to explore the Index and discover how Central and Eastern Europe is positioning itself in the global AI landscape.

📰 In the latest interview for My Company Polska, CEO of COGITA AI and our member Adam Gabriel Dobrakowski shares practical insights from supporting analytics and hashtag , to why many -generated applications collapse the moment they hit production scale.

As Adam Gabriel Dobrakowski highlights in the interview:
💬 “AI agents are excellent at detecting narrow bugs and vulnerabilities, but they still struggle with deep architectural redesign. This stems from the nature of these models themselves. (...) Moreover, if we use the same AI model to search for errors that originally generated the code, there is a high probability it will not notice them at all – because it will reinforce its own flawed reasoning.”

💬 At the same time, he notes that AI is dramatically lowering the barrier to :
“What once required months of development work and budgets of €200-300K to build an MVP can now be achieved by a technical team in just a few days with the support of AI tools, significantly reducing the initial entry threshold for startups and founders. Two years ago companies were still debating copyright issues around AI-generated code – which, by the way, remains unresolved in some ways. Today nobody questions it anymore: if a senior developer doesn’t use AI, they will simply fall out of the market.”

Big thanks to Wiktor Cyrny for a substantive and well-conducted conversation.
