Oscar Rodriguez-Carmona, Chief Executive Officer, has been building information systems for 15 years or more. Our CEO currently works on software architecture, database designs, components integration and even in our online presence including setting up this website. But why the name Matrixoft?
Something happened before the birth of the company. The CEO was a team leader and software architect for a consulting firm. He was working on a big project that required a lot of attention to design of classes, web services, databases and graphical user interfaces. All these diagrams covered his cubicle’s walls. While looking at diagrams, Oscar coded on a 17-inch laptop with a black background and color coded fonts. One night the client walked by, saw all of this, and told him that it looked like he was working on The Matrix, referring to the movie by Larry and Andy Wachowski. So Matrix or Oscar Matrix became sort of a nickname. Years after leaving the company, that client gave our CEO his first contract and the company was born. Dictionary.com defines Matrix like this: “something that constitutes the place or point from which something else originates, takes form, or develops: The Greco-Roman world was the matrix for Western civilization”. So combine Matrix (origin) with software and you get to our name, soul and passion… where software originates and comes to life.
