Financial services are facing a 360-degree change in terms of digital transformation. According to a Gartner survey, more than 50% of financial services CIOs believe most businesses will operate through digital channels. These digital initiatives will generate more revenue and value, and this will make companies ask, what is the “secret sauce“?

Another challenge for fintech is user experience. A recent study provided by Deloitte says: 38% of customers state that user experience is the most important criteria when choosing a digital financial service.

Here we have two different challenges that Fintechs are facing these days. Hopefully, in the future, we will have the solution to solve these two challenges. But wait! What if this solution already existed? Yes, of course, I’m talking about gamification!

As we mentioned before, fintech is trying to increase customer engagement through digital offerings, and adding gamification to fintech solutions is one of the ways to meet the challenge.

Nowadays it’s really hard to engage users online, we have so many companies/brands trying to reach their audience that it’s difficult to engage those users because people generally use social media to socialize and share content with friends and family and not engage with a brand.
However, we have some good examples of companies that engage their users on social media in a unique way of indulging people in using the app/platform even more. For instance, LinkedIn’s Profile Strength bar excites people to share the nest version of themselves to get a 100% profile strength. The super clever thing about their SSI score is that the only way to improve it is through using LinkedIn a lot, hence keeping people using the platform for longer.

Many companies are likely to implement gamification for ideas management as a way of evolving and improving their business processes. It’s a more playful, engaging way to give every employee a voice and allow them to be innovators, even if it is not in their job title.

But gamification should not be seen as a purely instrumental approach for the easier task of ideas management. Using it to foster creative thinking is more difficult and resource-consuming, but it is also more rewarding, because it can help us to explore and imagine the future challenges and possibilities.
